Mariano scares me anymore, and since Joba is already getting a taste of relief work, I feel he should be groomed as the next closer. Wadda youz think?

Yea, he's really good, has great stuff, but they're making him a starter next year. Mariano has been sliding a little over the last 3 seasons, but is still a great closer. I'd say pick up BJ Ryan when he comes back from Tommy John surgery from Baltimore. He's going to be a great closer.

joba still has two more pitches he dosent use out of the pen, he will be a DOMINANT starter in the leauge, and even though mo has been sliding..........

so has moose, and roger probably wont be back, so the rotation will need as much help as the pen

Jaba has good stuff and a lot of power, but has a lot of pitches to work with, something that is needed for a starter, not so much for a closer.

Whats his face....the guy with the shooting glasses. Skinny and tall hispanic guy has good control and good power....name isnt coming to me. I picture him as a good closer.

As for Mariano...he is awesome...when its not the Sox. For whatever reason, the Sox are like kryptonite. They had stats of him the other night. He is a 93% garuanteed closer for everyone else, but 75% for the Sox.
He is still the man to seal the deal, but a replacement is needed.

With 18 innings thrown, I can't tell. But it appears he has at lest 3 and maybe 4 major league level pitches, so he may be a better starter.

He signed with the Blue Jays before the '06 season, so he's in Toronto now. He would be a great addition though. His K/IP numbers as a closer are pretty nasty.

Who is he?

Based on the people having the discussion, I'm gonna guess he's a Yankee's pitcher. Either of our wives could prolly tell us for sure though.
