I've been unable to determine which year 3rd Gen Camaro had the black with gold GFX and gold, five spoke wheel. I also haven't found a picture of that combo online, though Im sure Im not looking in the right places.

Does anyone know what year that color combo with wheels was available? Anyone have any side pictures so that I can see the GFX and wheels?

Thanks.

Dave, I have a dealer brochure from '85, and I'm almost positive you could get the IROC in that color scheme. I'll scope it out when I get home.

No spoked wheels. I think he's thinking of an 84-85-86-87

What wheels are these Dave?

I thought IROC's were like GTA's in that the ground effects were body colored. I know the Z28's and trans am's got the two tone.

Tim had an '83 Z28 that was black and gold....pretty sure it had the gold 5 spokes too, but I'm not positive.

Mtnhopper has it right. The ones that I recall were mid 80's, more like the 85 or 86. The wheels on the TGO site show a wide groove within each spoke on the wheels. Were there different ones through the years that had a very narrow groove on the five spokes, but also painted gold?

in 1987 that color combination was available, with the gold painted aluminum five-spoke wheel, but only in the Z-28 model. the IROC-Z was a solid color exterior with the polished aluminum five-spoke wheel, no color on the wheel.

btw, the exterior colors available that year were: silver met., bright blue met., dark blue met., white, black, yellow, dark brown met., dark red met., bright red and medium gray met. the iroc was only available in bright red, dark red metallic, yellow, black, white and bright blue metallic. the brochure also states that all colors had a clear coat applied (when did they phase out single stage paint?) and special accent tape stripe available on the sport coupe (base model).

Medium Maui Blue met. was also available in '87.....that's my color.

those were prob either the 15 or 16" iroc wheels, single line.

My second camaro was a 1984 5.0HO blue with silver on the bottom. putting the fadded decal on the bottom was a pain! That car even had the center console w/ the flashlight between the ttops.

 i copied it right out of the brochure. if that's true, then perhaps the other "facts" printed in the brochure are untrue?

I dunno....that's the color that came up in the body shop supply database when I gave my buddy the paint code from my car, and that's what color it's painted in (inside and out).

maybe what they called it in the brochure and what comes up in the paint shop's computer are two different things. not the first time i've seen that. foreign cars are especially good at doing that.

what paint system are/were they using?

I dunno the name of the program they used. I know they distributed mostly BASF products, if that makes a difference (they are the largest supplier of BASF in the state). Place is called Central Paint, located in Trenton.

Makes me wonder which color my car is for real then? I dunno whether they would call it dark blue or bright blue.

What do you think?
