Differences Between Formula & WS6 TA

My girlfriend finally got her Formula back on the road so over the next few months we will start modding it up. My question is, aside from the body differences, what is different from her 2000 Formula to a WS6. Its an NHRA Edition so it has the same 3.23 Posi Disc Rear that the auto TA's have.

Differences:

17 inch wheels
Higher Flowing Exhaust

What else?

Hood, airbox, shocks, sway bars. Not sure if you are saying her car is an auto with 3.23 or a manual with 3.23 like an auto, but a WS6 would have 3.42's in an M6. That is about it.

Well the hood is a given. We have been looking around since day 1 trying to find a local OEM WS6 hood in good shape.

Do you what sizes are the WS6 sway bars?

I haven't done an oil change on the car yet so I haven't had a chance to crawl under there and see if she has the alum driveshaft. I thought I read somewhere that all ls1's had them but I wasn't 100% sure.

IIRC, all LS1s besides '98s with 2.73 gears should have an aluminum driveshaft.

Don't forget the front bar is hollow also, where did you get "Increased cooling"? Nothing is different on a WS6 in the cooling system. I forgot the exhaust.

I knew about the 17inch wheels and exhaust. So her rear sway bar should be the same size as a WS6?

Driveshafts were steel on 2.73 geared cars at least until 2000.

Those were directly off of the Pontiac Sales paper that I have here..
I never really cared what they meant by it but I always assumed that it was Pontiacs fancy advertising lingo for Power Steering cooler which I thought was standard on all LS-1 F-bodies..

Rear sway bar size on all LS F-bodies is 19mm unless it is a FireHawk or SS with SLP's Version of the 1LE package..

my car is a 2002 A-4 it has a Steel drive shaft..

the ws6 came with a power steering cooler and 323s were an option that gave you the aluminum drivshaft in a package known as the gu5 which is what I have and what is the nhra package before they made that up in 2000 with the emblem stuff

GU5 is just the RPO for the 3.23 gears....has been for years.

The NHRA package was basically an Emblem package. In a Formula it would just give you a 3.23 rear for autos and the 3.42s with a 6 speed. However, if you got the ls1 option you probably got it anyway.
