How do you like it. I had one on my 96 Lt1 and the car sounded like a dump truck, just wondering how it sounds on a lsx. There illegal to run open arent they?

Only illegal if you are over the db limit OR it is pre-cat.

I have personally stood next to a 2000 LS1 being revved to 6k with a calibrated digital dB meter and it was a few db shy of the 95db limit.

Electric cutouts are illegal because you can close/open them from within the vehicle. I've had numerous friends getting tickets for even having a cutout because it bypasses exhaust equiptment.

Ah, I remember seeing that bill but was not sure that it actually passed. Thanks for the info.:!:

haha no prob. its prob up to some counties too if they want to bust your balls, i've never had a problem personally, but I wouldn't doubt it because of how much trouble NJ has become to modified car owners.

Yea im sure i wouldnt be bothered, It was only a money saving option. I had one on my 96 LT1 because I was stationed in alaska at the time and refused to pay the insane shipping charges of a ctaback. Ill just grab a tsp rumbler for 200.00 when the time comes.

On a stock LS1 car with nothing but a cut-out it sounds as if it had a SLP Loud-Mouth.

oh one ls1 SS

Exactly....any cutout you can open/close from inside the car (so that includes those crude cable operated ones) is illegal in NJ, regardless of whether or not it's before the cat.

I just went through inspection today and passed, but I took the cutout off and simply made a block off plate. They didn't say a word. They did check to see if the car had cats mulitple times. The car smells a little bit, I think the cats might be missing some internal parts, but am not sure.

Good for another two years.

My cutout is at the end of intermediate pipe and I think the car makes better power with it closed? I need to get to the track to confirm this though. SOTP tells me the car pulls harder and hustles through the RPM's better with the additional backpressure, but it could be the cooler weather that is fooling me. Maybe Friday at ATCO I'll find out. The car sounds meaner with it open, that's for sure.

ChrisYea the cooler weather will do that...especially w/ fbody cars. My chevy tracker even feels more responsive in this weather
