I am slowly realizing my car will be more of a "track" car verse a street car. Its still going to be driven on the street, to and from the track, car shows, and meets, maybe a small cruise on nice days. Do you guys recommend me getting a spool? I have heard that the taller the tires are the easier it is to drive on the street, I assume I will have nitto 555r's on my gta wheels and some type of big and littles.

no...i think you will be happier with a decent posi unit.

what rear are you going with?

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

1.) You won't have a rear diff, so you will drag the outside tire on every turn. Dangerous and will attract unwanted attention.
2.) You will have to run c-clip elimiators or Ford 9" housing ends- so you will have to mod your rear axle.
3.) Running a spool in an already weak 7.5" 10 bolt is really pushing your luck
4.) Pushing a car with a spool is a *****
5.) Most importantly- I've seen plenty of guys build up "track cars" with all the goodies only to have them never see the track often enough to make the specialty parts worthwhile. Then they end up putting in a posi.

As far as a rear goes, if I were you I'd keep my ear to the ground for a used 3rd gen 12 bolt. Run 3.73s and an Eaton posi and never look back. If you don't have money for that yet (many of us don't/wouldn't) I'd run the 10 bolt until you do.

hes getting a 12 bolt......

matt you live far enough from each track to make it not worth putting a spool in lol. you will literally HATE driving it on the street

we never let young guys race out of our shop with a spool - reason they have no seat time and when not if an axle brakes and it will - you have not spent real money on diff parts - at the line the car will make a sharp left or right and end up in the wall if your lucky - a posi will not spin the car around -if an axle brakes in half -- jz

no spool. and do you plan on having mis-matched rims? you said you're gonna run big and littles, but you said you'd use GTA rims.

anyway, a spool is a bad idea for a car thats gonna be driven on the street. way too much stress on the axles with all that turning.

You can race on a posi, there is nor eal benefit to a spool at your power levels.
