The early S10 pickup Manual steering box is a bolt-in for the 3rd gen F-car. Not sure what pitman arm you use, but I know it fits.

You would probably use the 3rd gen pitman arm.

Why would you want to take PS out? I guess you are not running large front tires.

Change to v belts. You'll hate manual steering.

The early S-10 manual box with the 3rd gen pitman arm fits great. That's what I have on my car.

One belt around the crank, water pump, and alternator...no other useless accessories to drive :D

ps - Scott, if Liz can drive her Fiero just fine with manual steering, I think anybody can drive a 3rd gen with it just fine.

manual steering imo is good for a drag car not a street/ strip car. Especially if you like taking corners...etc.

Apples & oranges - weight, suspension design, tire size, etc. Thrown some 245s or more in the front of a 3rd gen and try to parallel park. Not fun. IIRC the 3rd gen has more of a scrub radius issue which would make it worse.

Also, can't go by your car. :-P

S10 box with the 3rd gen arm fits right in...not too bad to drive and turn with skinnies, big street tires will be hard at slow speed

the S10 box has enough gain in it that other than turning the wheel further you will hardly notice any difference.
4cyl S10's are in junk yards every where and you can usually get them for under 20 bucks. just swap on your 3rd gen f-body pitman arm and you are good to go.
second gens looking to go manual can benefit from the same swap if any racers out there are interested :)

No, but I hardly had any trouble steering the car while it was being pushed at ~3 mph, so it would only get easier as speed increases. I also had 245s on it at the time with only 15-20 psi in them.

But besides that, I was only referencing the fitment in my post, not the way it drove.

Manual steeing ain't bad. Over time people have gotten lazy and have to have power everything. Plus if ya ain't got the guns to handle manny steering it can be a beyotch.
