just curious, i didnt want to remove my powersteering, but i could run a shorter belt. the only thing is, i dont want to waste any money if i wont pick up any time. i guess for .05 second or better it might be worth it, seeing UD crank pullies are in the $200 range and might drop .1 second

the only time the PS pump drags is when you are turning, so i don't see how that would be much of a power savings. the real drag that is on the accessary belt is the water pump.
it wouldn't cause any harm to pull the belt for a pass. jsut make sure the battery is fuly charged and that all electric accessaries are turned off. i would only suggest doing this if you have some friends around to push the car up so that you can wait as absolutely long as possible before having to start it.

thanks tim! i was actually thinking of going the electric waterpump route one day, but for $500 some odd dollars or whatever it is, i think I'll wait on that

yo can run he sort belt and bypss the PS pulley, analo w/ teUD pulley on there. once you have a UD pulley on you have to take the 1 bolt out froalt so ttyou dont shred the belt. do a search on tech theres a few threads about in drag tech.

im sporting the short belt mod now every day lol. i dot know howmuch of again it is tho,

personally i wouldnt run without a water pump on an aluminum block/head car...no matter how short the run is

the 3.8s are iron block/aluminum head.....several people have done it regularly for a few years with no reported troubles AFAIK.

ron, if you can find a ewp for cheap on tech ( i got mine with about 1k miles for 375 on tech) its a mod that cant miss, looks better, cools better, robs less power, and it lets you run the nice 7 dollar sbc thermostats

Hmm...I thought the F-Body 3.8s had aluminum heads. Could be wrong though. Maybe I'm just confusing them with the 60* motors that were either or.
