LS1 TB Porting???

i see a lot of guys claiming to be experts at porting LS1 TB's. i was wondering if anyone had anyone in particular they would recommend to do the job?
i also see references to the "epoxy mod", anyone have any experience with it? is it a normal part of every ported TB or would it be something extra?

Normal to epoxy, search LS1Tech.com, i forget the guys screenname, but theres a few on there that do good jobs at porting.

I wanna say the name I hear the most is Nick Winters or something like that....haven't heard anyone complain about his work yet, and the pics I've seen of TBs he's done look great.

mines not epoxied, and that actually seems to be a debate on wether thats a good thing or not...

There's a decent "ridge" in the LS1 TB and you can feel it. Most people that do the basic porting smooth out that ridge and open it up a little in the front section. Some people will also knife edge the throttle blade and grind off the screws that mount it to the shaft. The actual opening isn't really any larger and retains the stock blade, but air can pass through a lot easier and smoother. I noticed an immediate difference in throttle response but haven't had any dyno numbers done. I think it's worth it for difference in driveability even if there is minimal power increase. I recently put a stock TB back on to troubleshoot a pinging issue and the car felt horrible with it and just dogged off the line. It didn't reduce the pinging so I put the ported one back on.

some peopel say they saw about a tenth or so and minimal trap speed gains. the biggest comments seem to be much improved throttle response and some small gains in fuel economy.
i have some other air flow mods planned that will take more advantage of the "ported tb" more than the average bolt on car. 8-)

i jsut wonder who is actually good at doing up the tb's and who is blowing smoke. so many guys do it and there seems to be a wide variety of prices out there.

We've done them epoxy, no epoxy, and bone stock before. Not enough gains to warrant it. However, a 90mm nick williams coupled with a LSX 90mm or this would help:
