View Full Version : My car's a freak of nature!

I went down to atco tonight with the intentions on breaking into the 12s in a bone stock car. Unfortunately, technically that didnt happen.. I made a retarted number of runs tonight (11 total on a clutch that has smelled better) and I was stuck in the 13.3x range most of the early night, which isn't bad, but not what I was hoping for. Mike and Tim strapped on mike's SLP lid and the following two runs just lit up the tires cause the dew came in. I waited a while.. noticed that cars looked like they were hooking up again, and came back and ran a 13.10, 12.92, 12.94 and then..... a 12.805 @ 109.23!!!

So now what? I have a car that I wanted to do absolutely no modifications to that just ran what, like 4 tenths better than it should have?? I mean, its stock to the paper filter, with a flowmaster muffler (not cat back.. just muffler), and currently mike's SLP lid. So now im thinking, imagine what its gonna be like when i have a clutch that actually works.. maybe a short throw... a tune... some tires other than KDWS..

ugh. maybe ill go back and start throwing money at my 79 again. If i throw the equivalent of my car payment at it every month, maybe it'll be a 12 second car too

wow congrats thats awesome, never knew that was possible in a stock ls1.

Do the free airbox mod and a ported TB and you might be at 12.5 or better. And that Flowmaster muffler is probably hurting more than helping. LS1's are pretty easy to do some basic mods with and see results. It's too late for you now! Nice runs.

160 stat, 4.10's and a PCM tune

My 01 ran almost identical w/ a lid and loudmouth. Those times are actually pretty common for 6spd 01-02's w/ a good driver. Good runs

Congrats, sorry I didn't get down there to see it. I was getting ready to come down and found a screw in one of my drag radials:evil: Maybe I'll catch you guys if ya come down again if not then next year and I still have to try and make a trip up to Island next season also, that would be cool running up there.

Nice runs, I forget what the fastest stock M6 LS1 f-body was, but great passes for sure. You should just buy mine.

I believe it was a 98 6spd formula that went 12.7@109 stock

any idea where i can find this out? i'm pretty curious.. did a quick search on ls1tech and didnt see anything.. i want to see exactly what they're talking "stock" is.. like, are tehy talking factory stock, full weight, jack and spare in back, or do they say stock but mean DR's, seats out, no AC, etc etc etc..

Shoot... I remember reading it years ago when the LS1 first came out on LS1.com when that was still "the" website.

yup...don't buy into that cloth filter crap...they work better than a paper filter for the first 50 miles after being cleaned and then go quickly downhill after that

nice job melissa, its amazing what our cars can do with a good driver right? you must have had a hell of a launch too, i ran the same trap with a 13.2 so you must have had a 2.0 short time too. :)

i think that the general concensus is that my shifts don't actually have long pauses, i was just mis-interpreting steve's simulation. if they had long pauses i don't think the car would have run what it did.

shifter might be coming, clutch will get here when its necessary... and it doesnt matter if you hate it ;)

:wavey: bye bye shift forks

GP99GT
11-30-2007, 09:51 PM
shift forks will be fine as long as you use the clutch and adjust the shifter throw properly...and dont bang the gates instead of the gears
