Damn...on the way to the south meet today I got on the 86 from a roll. It wound up to about 5500 in second and just as I go to let of SLAMMED 3rd gear...well, what else is new another automatic trans has fallen to my mighty right foot. she grinds going into 3rd, fan-freakin-tastic. I'm gonna have to baby it till friday so I can do a trans flush, change the filter, and put some lucas in it. If that doesn't solve it...T-5 swap

My header just melted a trans line on my Z today. The underside of my white hood is all pink and my motor is very shiny.
On a side note, Id go to Advance or someplace and buy Lubegard instead of Lucas. Much better product IMO.

The inevetable is here no cheap fixes for what you did. The planetaries probably broke and sent metal throughout the whole trans. You will need a complete overhaul and the converter will need to be replaced or rebuilt as well. Also the cooler will need to be flushed or replaced....

you don't really have any room to make fun of anyone's knowledge base until you have in some small way shown that you have one of your own. so far you have ripped your car apart and had it towed to a shop. that puts you pretty far in the hole compared to bubba breaking and repairing/replacing his own parts.

well heres the plan I'm gonna have to stick to.
If it comes down to the T/A being disabled I have a 700r4 set aside for me and i'm setting aside the cash for it in a separate account as a just in case scenario. I'm finishing the 3.4 this weekend, and sending out the computer with the little bit of money I'll have to work with. some time soon I'm getting a clutch and putting her on the insurance. The T/A will then become a moving project car, thats I'm not going to dig at too deep and make the same mistake again.

You need to finish puting the oil pan on and a few other assorted bottom end parts, find pushrods for it, find exhaust manifolds and hook up an exhaust, put the front assembly on, put it back in the car, get a clutch for it and put the transmission on, hook up all the wiring, get the computer on it, and hope that it will run for more then 30 seconds because you never plastigauged anyhting.

I say you havent been working on it, cause you either work, or you sit around at your house. your engine is at your dads house and he gives you a hard enough time as it is to work on it. and you dont even have a proper tool set to put it together properly. When your rear went, who came over with all the right tools and had it in and out in a few hours workign time, I did. in the hour and half you worked on it you took of the sway bar and the shocks. Im not saying I know more then you, but If your goign to work in the mechanic worl dude, or work on your car properly, have the proper tools to go with it. as for putting the engine in, im sure you can have it in, I could have something like that in in no time, but will it run? personally, no, you didnt use plastiguage.

25 gazillion people can offer advice out of their piehole. But is any of it gonna help if it ain't working out when he tries to "do it?" It will help if yer there with your hands as well as your piehole. "Give a man a fish, and he eats for a meal. TEACH a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime!"

I will admit, ive had a couple projects I never finished, but hey, I was young and I learned the hard way loosing hard earned money on the cars. I miss my 79 Camaro, and I may never get my 3000GT back together, but crap happens. Wayfast is 16, and personally I envy the fact that he already has a car he can tinker with. I was able to have a car to tinker with when I was 18, so, and I had stupid thoughts and bit off more then i could chew many of times. And as time goes by ,you mature ,and progress and find out what paths to use to properly find parts and do things to a car, your not able to know everything as soon as you go, you know what I like cars, I think ill build onethe way I want to. I thought I was hot **** in Vo-tech, but in the end, I realize I knew more about quantum physics, then I did about cars. so Wayfast just needs to practice, practice, practice, and he'll become more knowledgable as time progresses.

as much as i love the great catch phrases you seem to love, i don't think they apply this time.
i offered matt links to tons of information that would have taught him to "fish" and he didn't follow through on his end. i also suggested many books and periodicals to read, yet he did not learn to "fish". if someone is not willing to take the first step on their own why should it be up to me or anyone else to carry them the rest of the marathon?
there is also a very very big difference between you having an engine built and needing your whole car finished for you. you have a lot of knowledge and you have built up a lot of different cars. not doing or not being an expert in one area or another is not comparable in this situation.

So, you provided things to read. Big whoop. I read just about every car mag around, and a lot of stuff still goes WAY over my head. Case in point: I had no f'n idea what was meant about flow rates of heads, and how flow benches work. And no matter how much I READ about the stuff, it still made no sense. Then I spent some time in shops, with someone SHOWING me the jazz, and it made sense. So, without getting into anymore "catch phrases" since they go so against your grain, I learned by being SHOWN not by being TOLD. And just for the record, I thought you could relate to trying to teach with parables, since I seem to remember you posting about spiritual things. And as we all know, Jesus taught with parables.

well its $100 for a used trans to get me by...that I can't really beat on(MAYBE a day or so at the track)...or $500 for a full T-5 swap that that motor would tear to pieces if i beat on it, but I could later put a TKO setup in and have the hydraulics there already. I'm putting an auto in for the time being. when project A is completed then I'll start toying with the T/A again. for the 2nd time now

Dude, you better not run that car at the track on a $100 trans..and if you do you don't have a single reason to bitch.
Also, why would your motor rip apart the T5? You're not really making that much power, even a non WC T5 should handle it provided you don't drive like a *******.
