Its just a crying shame this vehicle will not be on the market :( What a sick looking vehicle!!!!!!I would get rid of everything but my 2001 Formula to buy it if it was in production.

it looks like the same old pic that has been cycled around since they started talking about bringing the camaro back. it isn't a consept, it is a cartoon. they aren't going to build it unless by some miracle someone can provide a multimillion dollar positive margain per month market to buy it. reality is, that market doesn't exist if you try to overlap the camaro and a firebird model.

licensing has nothing to do with it, the fee is only $5 per unit. the problem is that if you build two cars with the same target audience, in similar price ranges, on the same platform, you aren't going to sell enough cars to justify all the extra development, testing, tooling, and having to build mirror production lines.
you would have to be able to prove the market, or at least market share, would double based on the introduction of the second platform. it isn't going to happen.
camaro is also the more marketable title and leaves a second tier performance vehicle in the chevy line up. pontiac is going upscale performance, an entry level sports coupe doesn't have a home in the latest evolution of the brand.

YES I've been waiting for that!! my 86 was produced in Norwood, Ohio yes the 94 is canadian...but that car is played out....to many black 93-97 v6s

I'd take a TA over a Camaro anyday, however I really hope GM doesn't spend the money to compete with itself. That'd be yet another bonehead move on their part if they did.

As it stands, its gona be a hard choice - Camaro or stay Pontiac and get the G8.

its to widen its range of consumers.... not compete with its self, but the smart way to do that is build 1 T/A for every 5 camaros but T/A only no fb or formulas but that would make T/A prices much higher

I think the intention of GM is to bring back the bird after they see how the camaro is received. Who knows? Maybe these photoshops could be strait from GM? may its a way to test the waters to see how a firebird would sell

I'd take a beat up smashed third gen over that new Camaro. I guess I'm a pontiac guy huh? Even if the made a new T/A. wouldn't be able to drive it. IDT that it would take nicely to the sand.

No, it wouldnt widen anything. One eats off the others budget. Example
Lets say Camaro is by itself. It needs to get a refresh to stay ahead. Well, they have 1 million to do that. They spend that 1 million to make it better, w00t!!
Now, Camaro and Firebird. Take that same million, cut it in half, get two warmed up versions of last years, both enhancements not meeting what the public wanted, and failure.
The market is only so many units strong. Its not like people are jumping out of Camrys, Accords, Tahoes and Explorers to get a coupe, be it Mustang, Camaro, Challenger or anything...
Higher price Firebird? People were bitching and moaning about a 32k FOUR HUNDRED HORSE POWER LUXURY GTO....

No, its not.
If there is ever a 2 door RWD coupe, it will be much smaller, and probably not cary a V8. GM will not make the Firebird for a handful of reason.
Pontiac's image will not include a Trans Am Firebird type car. GTO? Maybe. RWD G6? Yeah. Solstice coupe? Possible...

Sorry Tim, but maybe a turbo Solstice targa will quench your thirst? RWD G6 coupe with a 3.6 DI might do it too...either one will probably have 300hp.

you've got a much better chance of this happening than GM making one.

p.s. the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different outcome. how many times is this post going to resurface, only to have the same exact answer? half of you are drooling over the cartoon, the other half are telling you why it will never happen. listen to reason. no matter how much you beg, plead and bargain, it will not be built. move on, already. :mrgreen:

I wouldn't bother with a kit though. If I was going to buy a new camaro it would be cause I wanted a camaro.
