Friend of mine at Verizon is thinking of renting the old Real World house in Philly one friday night and having a party. There might be poker (buy in would go to charity, winner would win some donated goods no money to winner tho) open bar all night long. She's trying to see how much interest there is in it because if she can't get approximately 250 people interested then she won't be able to come up with the rental fee. Just checking to gauge interested to see if anyone here would be interested in going. Remember open bar at the old Real World house in philly on a friday night.

i say yes depending what the charity is. needs to be something good, no some scam or little crap that doesn't really help anyone.

WINNER!!
The price at the door would cover the rental, band/dj, some of the booze, she's a huge poker fan and wanted to organize a game, the buy in for the poker game (if u opted to play) would go towards charity. Once again the cover would go towards the rental of the building, etc.

to me, beer isnt worth $4 a beer....its worth...about 70 cents per beer. so i could get a 30 pack and then no, i wouldnt be able to drink $30 worth of booze in one night

$4 is a perfectly common price for beer out at bars or clubs, actually that is somewhat on the low side of prices you will find if you go out anywhere.
thinking in terms of typical drink prices, i coudl easily get my $30-40 worth out of the evening.
no interest in poker. try adding in the idea of a raffle for the charity too. i have no interest in poker, other than maybe some moral support for anyone i know who gets in the game.

i know that, i went to a place in the city to see the australian pink floyd show, it was 6 bucks a beer....totally not worth it imo. i know $4 is average but its still ridiculous when i can get a 6 pack for 6 bucks and be almost buzzed

Dude, 250 people @ say 10.00 a head? Im old, out of school and rusty but according to my calculations thats 2,500.00. You mean to tell me that ******** rents out for more than 2K a NIGHT? MTV doesnt have the viewership to sustain that nightly for a season.

I'm sure MTV didn't pay anywhere near that. They rented it out for (~6 month?) straight....
They only charge more now to cover costs since I'm sure the place isn't rented out every night.

You mean people throw private parties to make money? LOL I had a college buddy that did that after college in NYC - it helped pay for med school.
