I am pretty new to the site and very interested in attending the 2008 F-Body Nationals.

I am thinking about the car show or possibly racing my 1985 Trans Am. What are the racing requirements ?? Car is pretty much stock, with some performance bolt on mods. Has a 305 H Engine with 4 barrel Carb and Dual Snorkel Air Cleaner with K&N filter.

Any help or Suggestions would be greatly Appreciated !!

Thanks
Rob

Well, if the car is pretty much stock, you'll probably want to stick to bracket racing as opposed to the Heads Up classes.

Do you have much experience at the drag strip?

Unfortunately, I do not have any race experience. I would be cool to see how well all the work I put into the car did at the track.

you will do ok, may not go rounds but between the dial in runs and at least one round, you will get as many runs as you would in a test and tune day.......and you will be able to check out the rest of the event/meet lots of cool people all for the same price

my first year there i bracket raced and lost the first round, still had an awesome day....last year i raced heads up and well thats a funny story, but i have a trophy and had another awesome day

Hello All,
I was just looking at the info for this event. I plan to have my car done by the end of july. I was wondering if you think it would be worth driving 5 hours (from MA), to this event. The drive isn't a problem, it would be a fun road trip with my friend and we might go down to NYC before. But all that aside.. Do you think it is WORTH coming down? How was the turn out last year? How many cars showed up? On the Friday night how many cars usually show up?

Sorry about all the questions =P
And I appreciate any answers!

THANKS!
-Andrew

Can anyone enter their car into the event?(as long as its F-body)

Well it looks like I will be unable to attend the Nationals this year due to my job. I work for an IT provider and we are having issues with a couple of servers that is scheduled for tomarrow by the customer to get resolved.

Too bad , the TA is polished up and ready for the car show.

It going to be an awesome day, enjoy !!!!!

Thanks

Well, it was good while it lasted! Nice cool air for racing and quite a few nice cars in the show(the judging was much harder this year). Too bad mother nature let loose on us. It made for a challenging drive home but I doubt I had the hardest drive knowing what tires I had. Thanks to everyone who voted for me, I thought the 80 Z28 was going to win the class, that was a nice clean car and I voted for him! Now we just need to schedule a dry day for next year!
