Well after a crash of my old system. I erase everything on my Hard drive and start alll over again with a fresh install of MS XP. So all goes fine and dandy and im happy until I start surfing the net. I notice I can't scroll up and down a webpage without seeing the tidal wave effect. I went into options on my PC and clicked used smooth scroll/auto scroll, changed the settings on my browsers (Firefox and Explorer) to similar also. When the page is still and it doesn't have to scroll up or down the display looks great! However when i scroll the screen flickers and has like a wave type appearance and it affects everything in the browser/window. Anybody with any type of suggestions or help I would appreciate it.

find out what kind of video card you have (nvidia or ati) you can find this by right clicking on the desktop and going to "properties" then click the "settings" tab all the way on the right. click 'advanced" and you should see nvidia or ati emblem. from there it should tell you somewhere what kind of video card you have.
BUT if you are using onboard video (video directly from your motherboard) you will have to install the drivers from a CD that came with either your motherboard or your video card.

Got it dude! Thanks for the quick responses. Before you typed that I realized I had no sound. So I checked the add and remove hardware and such. Fixed the drivers and added some stuff that needed to be added. This POS Compaq is operating at 100% finally lol. Thnx again!
