new paint on the front of my car :(
i pull into work today(shoprite) and a lady in a jeep liberty decides she passed the parking spot she wanted and threw it in reverse, i see reverse lights and knew it was coming, laid on the horn and sure enough i had a jeep up on my hood lol. she was sorry and nice and told the officer it was all her fault.
soooo the bumper is scraped and spider webbed, the passenger side corner of the hood is bent down a lil and a small ding towards the middle and a small nick in the pass fender. i was guna have my headlight pockets painted in the spring anyway, guess itll be for free now :) also guna see if i can get an ss hood out of it, or sumthing aftermarket

Sucks that you have to deal with the accident, but at least no one was hurt, no major damage, and you'll get fresh paint :)

so the insurance adjuster from century 21 came the other day while i wasnt here and today i got the estimate in the mail........ $99.16! to wet sand and buff the hood and bumper!!! WTF how does that remove spider webbing on the bumper and bend the hood back up and replace the fog light????

One more reason why I hate insurance companies
- I don’t see how 99 bucks is gona do it – the fog light alone is gona eat up most of that.

Yea, just call them up and tell them there is no way that that can touch the damage that was done. We had to do that when I got rear-ended in my dad's truck.

well my dad called the appraiser and gave it to him lol, he asked if we had a body shop and we told him wehre we go and he said he knew the owner and to take it there and get an estimate.
i just went there and talked to the owner, who does know and does dislike the appraiser to say the least.... sooo were looking at a new bumper cover, atleast 4hrs to repair the hood, fog light, and realign the fender. he told me not to worry it would be taken care of and then complimented on how nice this camaro was.
to top it off another guy that works there bought a 96z28 vert with a hard hit to the driverside and hes gettin a parts car to fix it, and he offered to buy my salad shooters when i get my rims in the spring
sooo today has been good :) :)

UPDATE - finally got ahold of the appraisor and he says to bring it to the shop monday and he'll meet my body guy and theyll go over it together. i brought it there monday morning and my body guy calls him and he didnt show up monday, no show tuesday, no show today, wednesday. so my dad has been trying to get ahold of his supervisor out in texas at the Century 21's HQ to let him have it about this jerk appraisor, turns out the supervisor wasnt answering the phone all day cuz the building had a fire in it, and he found that out by calling someone else in a different building. lol
anyway, my body shop has documented all the damage in photos and there guna tear it apart and fix it tomarrow and itll be ready monday, then hes guna go after the insurance company himself!
i wanted a nice check and then i was guna fix it in the spring but i guess its this or the $99 they offered me

If he got the 4 hours labor to fix your original hood, now would be a smart time to get the aftermarket hood and have him paint it and install it for you. The money he's going to get repair your original should cover all the labor and materials to install a new one. Usually the aftermarket hoods do need some adjustments here and there, so now would be the time to do it. Also see if they would do some compounding to the entire car(messy job with LOTS of dust)and polish the entire rest of the car that doesn't get painted, to match the gloss of the new front end paint. Just an idea!

If you get a new bumper for spider cracked paint you're in good shape! lol and I agree with Ed about the hood, maybe have them hold off on it and just bring the car back to them when you get a hood and put the money towards painting/installing it.

i was guna do the hood if they wrote me a check, like usual lol, but this insurance company sucks and i dont wanna get screwed and i have a feeling there guna check everything once the shop goes after them for the money. plus its already been takin apart by now... o well i can live with a stock hood
