If you want it, he will build it.

I PMed Mr. Kircher last night and he says if we want it, he will build it. but what is it? its a front end splitter. our cars have a very high nose and a front end splitter would be great to give us lowered guys the aggressive front end we are looking for. Its available for the GTO, but there is a larger crowd of fbodies out there. the gto one is about $140 shipped fyi. here are some pictures:

looks awsome on the GTO but not sure about our rides, especially those of us with ground effects. I still want someone to try it though, who knows.

Unless the car is on the ground I think it looks like ricer treatment. The rods look kinda riduculous too. No place on a street car. A car that is raced and is lowered, then yeah sure. Sorta like the attached....

I think the point where it would look good, would also be the point where it would be impractical on a car that sees any real street time.

Arock, could you photo chop it so you car is lowered and then apply the splitter?

That pic doesn't look too bad. Maybe its the angle of the photo? But the support rods are definitely out. I doubt it would offer any real performance, but in the looks category, not as bad as the first pic. I think it helps define the nose of the car instead of it simply rounding under and dissappearing to the undercarriage.

I am gonna take a step back and give it an official maybe, until I see one in person. I won't be the first in line that's for sure.

I wasn't thinking rice intially, more nascar actually. But it looked like the type of afterthought body panel (espcially with the support rods) you would see on a on tricked out Nissan Sentra.

looks nice but how would it look on a bird?

Also someone had mentioned its use in protecting the front bumper. I think it would look to busy on a bird.

i always see them on WRXs. i'm pretty sure that the support rods only serve a purpose on the legit race cars. but in any event, some guy made the same comment as you, saying it looks nascarish. i have a picture of dale earnhardt's monte carlo on the wall and it has no splitter. this is definitely an import or trans am racing type thing.

i also definitely seeing this mod being more for camaros than trans ams or formulas. our front end appears higher and can use the break up in redundancy of the body lines

The NASCAR "Car of Tomorrow" (which will be used in every race this year) has a splitter....

For those of us who are complete newbs, what does the splitter do? More downforce on the front axle? Angle the air into the engine bay better for additional cooling?

???

A splitter generates downforce on the front of a car by creating pressure differentials.

On an all out race car it acts as a downward force on the front of the car. On a street car it acts as a curb feeler

 Yeah ok but it has to be marketed as having some kind of positive effect other than appearence, right?

I can understand the downforce application for circle track guys, but for street cars? Must just be appearence.

My opinion - don't like it.

I am sure it does, but still not the most gracious looking thing. Form over function. The other thing I think it does is sorat make the car the be a front breather as opposed to a bottom breather for cooling. At the very least some sort of duct or scoop must grab air from the splitter and route it up to the radiator I would think.

I always htink about that, if a splitter would look good on my car, and alex, if you can photo shop a semi side shot wiht our year camaro's , I would be in for one if it looked decent.
