Decided to go fail inspection with the truck today since I am 3 months past due, and I dont want to keep testing my luck and getting pulled over. Went down and the first thing they do is measure ground to bottom of the door. I figured I was okay, but nope, I was 3/4" too high, so the guy said I had to go for the tilt test in Winslow, nj. Yeah...eff that. He said all I needed to be was 3/4" lower and I woulda been inspected today. I said Ill be back. I drove 1/4 mile down the road, dropped the tire pressure from 50 to 20, filled the tank and went back. Now there is a lady working and she gets all mad at me because "I didnt listen and they dont change their minds there". She re-measuses and what do ya know, I am now 1/4" under the limit. She was astonished and asked me what I did in 20 mins. I said "I took the lift kit off, so please put me through!" Well all pissed off she informs me I was going to fail for my tires sticking out too far (which I knew) but ran me through the whole line. *Now mind you, I dont have a legit muffler, my exhaust is really screwed up and leaks in a few places, my ABS light is on, and I have 150k miles. I figure I was going to fail for about 5 things. They run me through, and the only thing I fail for is the tires being too wide. I need fender flares. Go figure, I put it off for all this time because I didnt have the money to fix my ABS module, sensor, and put an exhaust back on the truck and all they fail me for is tires. Ill do the "garden edging" mod this weekend for the flares and go pass on Monday.

I really thought I was screwed, but hey, I paid my window tint ticket and figured I would try for inspection since it was only another mile down the road.

borrow a set of stock wheels and pass the height and width with ease?

i have stock wheels, just have bald tires. I also have a set of STOCK 28" tires but, If i can just put the garden edgings on that my buddy has, and pass with those, its just easier than taking the wheels to get my tires mounted, and then swapping the rims.
