You just replaced the headlight bulb? or the motor on the drives side?

the assembly and bulb didn't touch the motor

I just searched your previous posts to where you said you had a 94 Bird (the year helps cause there are 4 motor styles from 82-92).

It sounds like it could be related to the nylon gear that drives the light up and down. A lot of problems and strange tempermental actions by the lights derive from a worn or stripped headlight gear. And by working on the assembly, couldn't have done something to the motor.

This is a great read if you got a few minutes.....

edit: did a google search for that gear and found this site http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm
described my rpoblem and a step by step guide on replacing the gear.

ok I did the fix where you take the arm off then manually rotate the gear 180 degrees and put it back on I did it with both lights and it works like a charm
May buy a brass gear and put in it eventually
great site highly recomended

I have the brass gears. I wouldn't spend the money on them until after you do the free fix

I hated that problem. I must have changed those damn headlight motor assemblies a million times. There could be one of two problems. First, the plastic gears in the motor assembly could be worn. Second, the catch bar that stops the actuator arm from stopping could have broken off. To check, open the hood and look at the actuator arm that pushes the headlight up. Now take the plastic cover off the manual headlight crank. Now crank the headlight up by hand and watch the metal arm. If the arm just goes around in circles and the stop tab isnt there to stop the arm, then thats what you need to fix. If you crank the headlights up manually by hand and you can feel the gears inside the headlight motor not catching, then the gears are worn out and you can either buy a new assembly, or buy the brass headlight motor gears and rebuild the assemblies yourself. Its not hard to do. Heres the website;

I used these gears in mine and they lasted a long time. Actually, I never had to replace them again after replacing the plastic ones with these, I only had to do the stop tab once.

it could have also been the one with the gears like this one http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm or the other one http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm like this one http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm or that one http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm ---->http://www.bfranker.badz28.com/headlightfix/index.htm <------

imy lights did that before with the gears. my buddy stuck some nuts in there and took out the plastic ones. they work perfect ever since. also lets not leave out the third gen. if the lights get stuck up. you should also check the control module on the rear firewall. when that goes the lights stay up as well.

The main problem with thirdgesn are the little rubber pucks that turn into dust. 4th gens dont have them
