home from florida after my trip to the rolex 24 at daytona. spent some extra loot for better tickets this year and i will never go back to the cheap passes again.
got to take two touring laps of the track in the camaro, very cool even if it was all low speed. got to hear a q&a session with dan gurney, got to play around on the coolest racing simulator ever, www.cxcsimulations.com (as of when we left friday i had 2nd best lap time among the humans, about 7 seconds off the pros laps), and got to hang out with graham rahal, alex gurney, max papis, aj almendinger, and justin wilson from michael shank racing all while eating and drinking for free int eh daytona 500 club. that was just friday :D
sat and sunday we watched some great racing, talked to guys from the teams in the garages, surveyed various degrees of glorious parts failures(they had it all from minor ding to DDDAAAAMMMMMMNNNNN!!!) ate a lot, drank a lot of crappy budwiser products, and generally enjoyed the weather.
the end results of the race, target chip genassi won their 3rd straight DP and overall crown and mazda upset the porsche armada to take home the rolex daytona watches in the GT class.
great crowd, lots of cool people, warm weather, and tons of laughs.
these guys will be making the trip to right in here in jersey at the end of august at the new new jersey motorsports park. who's with me? :mrgreen:
