NEWARK, N.J. (AP) -- The days when the New Jersey Devils (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=njd) dominated the New York Rangers (http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/clubhouse?team=nyr) are gone.

It was a good game. Third period was starting to look like a playoff game.

Said it before, I don't mind the Devils loosing to the Rangers. It's the $#@! Flyers I can't stand.

Why do all the devils fans I know tell me how much the Rangers suck? Because if the Rangers suck... how bad are the devils then for not being able to beat a sucky team?

They won't win the cup but I don't see what's so funny about his statement. They've been playing good hockey(aside from the inability to beat the Devils).

There are only 3 teams in the East that can stop the Flyers. The Devils, the Habs and the Lightning, the Flyers blow against all 3. No one else in the East matches up well against them.

I'm with you, Flyers alllll day. We been up in 1st place for 2 weeks now too. The Division was pretty tight, but the Islanders have dropped out and it looked the Rangers were gonna die off too; but they finally woke up. I just can't wait to watch the Pens crash and burn soon, Ty Conklin has been lucky this season for far too long.

And i agree with you. Aside from a couple years ago i thought the Devils curse was lifted when we 5 gamed them out of the 1st round. But at least we beat the Lightning once this season!!! Thats the most in 2 years against them LOL!

Our fan base is terrible. I'd much rather go to another venue and be a loud mouth fan. That is why my father and I have all tickets for Devils Islanders @ the "Mausoleum" and Devils Rangers @ the Garden.

Ehh, being I am from NJ, I'd much rather see the Devils win, but my 2 favorite teams are already doing great. Detroit as my first favorite team are still number one and in a big lead over the 2nd place team. I can always count on detroit for that. And Pittsburgh started off bad, but now they are doing a lot better. Over all I am just happy Detroit is in 1st place. It sucks that they lost their last 2 games though, but you can win them all.

I didn't realize how many hockey fans there are on here. When I was watching the movie clerks, I remember seeing everyone dressed in a hockey jersey. I guess over all, hockey is big in NJ. Right or wrong?

Maybe if NJ was in Ontario...

Many, but not all, NJ Devils fans are fair weather fans. The seats will get filled if they are having an exciting season. With the start the team got, and the prices of seats in the new arena, its tough to convince people (in this economy and state) to spend that kind of money seeing a mediocre team. You can look at the stats and see them in 6th place, separate from the top teams by only a win or three, yet they don't give off that spark of excitement.

I'll continue to watch the team through thick and thin, on FSN and MSG, without traveling to the Prudential Center. Someday I'll get there, but I'll likely travel without my family - way too expensive.

have you watched them play at all this season?
we get the lead and just keep the puck from the other team.. that's why we've had 6 games where we've scored 6+ points

I pay to see the team in Newark.. but I'm not in my right mind :D

Held seasons for many years up until this year worked a 10 game pack wasn't going to blow that kind of money when I knew work would not allow me to get there remotely on time. I'll tell you what though, the black VIP club seats are awesome. Past that, the arena still has an unfinished appeal with white walls, and I would have been much happier continuing to go to continental since it was 5 min from the shop.

And yes NJ Devils fans suck. I like going to the other NY arenas for the crowd, and just to cause trouble...
