Dale Earnhardt Jr. just won the Daytona Budweiser Shootout. He also set a record by leading the most LAPS in the history of the Shootouts. The #88 National Guard car beat out Tony Stewart's Home Depot TOYOTA for 2nd. Hellava race to watch since Jr. had not won a race since May 2006. FTW Chevy and Earnhardt! :w00t:

Junior kicked some ass tonight. It was a good race and, I hope, a sign of things to come for his season.

in the first half of the race, the 24 and 48 hung out in 22nd and 23rd place. i knew they were just waiting for the 10 minute break, checking things out and not even trying. sure enough after the break they were both up front :)

They had NO practice laps in those cars and they needed adjustments. That's why they were in the back. At the 10 minute break they made adjustments and made the cars competitive. I would say they made the right adjustments. I'm not a big fan of Jimmy or Jeff but I will give credit where due. They both know how to drive a car well and, their crew chiefs know how to adjust a car.

Word, i can't stand Jimmy Johnson, Gordon is alright, but both of them guys can drive man. Plus, Earnhardt + Hendrick = FTW. He'll have an awesome year this year. Hopefully Burton will to

Are you referring to the cars hitting each other or Stewart punching Bush in the Nascar trailer?

Stewart's hand meeting Busch's face LOL.

Thing is that I can't stand Kurt Busch (even long before his altercations with Stewart), and I've been a Stewart fan for a while so this was awesome news to me.

"HOW DARE YOU KISS MY SISTER!!"
*punch*
"HOW DARE YOU TELL ME NOT TO KISS MY CUZ'N!!"

I also saw the last 3 laps, but only because I was at a coworkers house, and he is a big Gordon fan.
Can someone tell me how Home Depot can plaster itself on a Toyota? Joe Gibbs...ugh, sell out.

You had to bring that up, didn't you...

I've been a Stewart fan since 2000 and as much as I enjoy watching him race I really don't want to root for a Toyota driver.

Ive made it a point to try and not buy things at whoever sponsors any of the Toyota teams.
I have cut off ties to Napa at work, and we can no longer buy parts from them.

That's a tough one. Do you stop buying American parts from the American company sponsoring a foriegn make in NASCAR or should you stop buying foriegn made parts from an American auto store (Like Autozone, Pep Boys, etc...)

It eats my guts out that a TOYOTA(can't say JAP)car could win the Daytona 500. This was an American sport born here and cheered on by people who had their local heros. Now we have foreign drivers from Formula 1, CART and others who's names I can't even pronounce coming into the sport. I understand that this is now all about the MONEY(Gibbs sold out Chevrolet)and we might also do the same thing, but it still sucks that another sport is going down the drain(for us older diehard fans) in the interest of EXPANDING THE FAN BASE and advertising.
