I was wondering when the turbo would show up in the Cobalt.

niiice i wasnt always feelin the supercharged 4cyl matchup.. now im not bashing it just saying u hear supercharger you think 8cyl.. u hear turbo you think 4cyl or 6cyl... or an 8 too... but not so common in production cars for an 8 to be turbo over supercharged

when does this hit showrooms Alex? Their pcm's are not fun to deal with from what we've seen :(
Wish they would've just kept the p12 in the older cobalt ss/sc.

Can't figure out why the G5 doesn't get this engine when PONTIAC IS "SUPPOSED" TO BE THE PERFORMANCE DIVISION:?: There is enough of a styling difference to allow the two divisions to generate MORE sales between them if they both had this engine,, then to have Chevrolet ALONE have the Turbo motor!

Instead of focusing on turbocharging it, they should first address the LONG list of TSBs this car has. I've had to bring my SS/SC back to the dealer a number of times already and it's only a year old.

I am sure they didn't spend much time on it....the engine is most likely dropped in from the Solstice with some tweaks

How do you figure it's rice? It has no ridiculous spoiler or body kit, you can't hear it from 5 blocks away.
Why is everyone so fast to label a quick compact car rice?

because of what people do to them

By your theory though we could call Fbodies rice too, I mean look at some of the f'ed up pics we've seen people post on this site.
people call it rice, because its a 4cyl "tuner" car, and they are really closeminded
remember people, the car isnt the rice, the owners are ricers

Trailblazer SS's are definitely rice ;):D
mine is, i put on color matched emblems, a short antenna, and a billet bowtie and didnt do any performance mods.....

I think that turbo Cobalt SS would make a great daily driver. I like the interior, it's not over the top with useless crap, the car looks good and has a good stance. I just need to know what the towing capacity is and who makes a trailer hitch!

Should go on sale later this year.
Sorry to hear about the TSBs for the old SC motors.
While I like this car, I wish they did more visual stuff to it. Maybe "rice it out" a bit with a better gfx package, a nice hood, something.

I think it's tastefully done as it sits. If people want to rice it out they can go aftermarket for it.

I agrea, the only thing I could see that could be changed is some sort of SS hood scoop or something like that. Nothing big just something to give a little more bad ass look.

The Cobalt needs a MCE, and it just didnt get enough to make it better then the new compacts. We wont see it till the all new Cobalt is ready for Delta II, which will be in about 2 years.

BigAls87Z28
03-11-2008, 12:48 AM
260hp, 260ftlbs, fuel econ is actually pretty good. If its anything like the Sky/Solstice turbo's, its going to be similar to the 2.4 liter engine's economy.

Hopefully they offer upgrades to get some more power out of it but 260 and 260 is a great start!

Im sure that will come shortly. There is a rumor that the Solstice/Sky will get a boost to 300hp for 09, but its possible that we wont see that boost for teh FWD cars till Delta 2.
