Just finished up grinding and polishing the track. The same guys that did Englishtown and Atco came to Island. The track is now smoooooooth as glass. Hopefully we'll be putting rubber down tomorrow in order to open this weekend..

the resurfacing of the track was $40,000. The paving of the entrance road has been quoted at $1m. We figured people wouldn't want to pay $100 entry fee every weekend, so we left the road alone.

1 million dollars?! Is there a way to have some kind of in-between like just filling in some of the holes? Cuz that road is legendary.

We tar and chip it almost every year. the problem is, once its smooth, people drive like idiots. and then create more bumps. the bumps get worse with weather and the winter thaw, and its back to where it was again. This thread isn't about the entry road, its about keeping the racing surface top notch. We have had the most consistent starting line in the area for a long time, and in my opinion, racers should care more about a good racing surface than having to drive slow on an entry road. If the road was paved perfectly smooth, we'd be picking people up out of the irrigation ditches weekly.

Nice work! Nothing better than a smooth track. The best thing is they got all this stuff figured out on the other two tracks first. Glad to see the track is putting some money back into itself. Now if there was only a little more shut down area. Nice job again!

i personally think that island is a great trac. its the best bang for the buck around. englishtown is way expensive and you dont get many runs in and ive never been to atco. im glad to see that island is getting resurfaced. i just have to finish my car so that i can test out that new track. is the cost of racing going to go up now?

P.S. i can deal with the road.

As of now, Friday and Test and Tune prices are staying the same. Saturday classes are going up $5 each. So far that's the only price increase, other than fuel which has skyrocketted.

that night that i met you at island, the car was launching like a bat out of hell, but it didnt seem to want to do to much up top. so i pulled the plugs and we narrowed it down to a lean condition at WOT. so i installed an aluminum sumped fuel tank, aeromotive A1000 pump, -10 lines(feed and return), and a regulator. i cant wait to get it back together so that i can get back to island and work on my times. once thats all sorted out it might be time for alittle laughing gass
