I took a trip to upstate NY yesterday to see what was going on with "project Dominion." For those that aren't familiar w/ what I'm doing, I have a set of very rare Dominion 32V LT1 heads. Pictures of the heads are below. I have a 396 CI engine being built with these heads by Bret Bauer at Bauer Racing. What is happening now is Bret wasn't happy with the port configuration, valve sizes, or rocker arm set up. So, he is basically changing all these areas so the heads will be much more efficient. The engine is still quite a ways from being done, but I'm impressed with his plans. And here is a link if anyone wants to see picts of the "ultimate" LT1 block I'm using.

Bob,

Kudos to you for having the balls to attack a project like this, especially wallet-first. When it's done it will turn heads, that's for sure.

Thanks, Bill. Well, I really didn't/don't have a choice but work it through. I tried selling the stuff a few years back, and nobody even came remotely close to my price. So, it was "Dayum the torpedos, full steam ahead!"
I have a lot of faith in Bret's abilities to pull this project off. The stuff I saw at his shop yesterday blew my mind! It's taking time, but you as a car guy know that nothing comes easy. :)

The Cavalier.

The cavalier is where he gets the best HEAD. Nothing better than a good HEAD job in a rock solid Chevy. With the size of those ports, I think we will see some very nice HP numba's

Wow I havent seen a set of those in a looooog time.

I remember reading , they put those on a regular old replacement 350 engine. With those heads, and a smallish cam, it made something like 750 hp..

Good luck with the project! I can't wait to see the final results.

WOW that's a big head you got there.

The Dominion is pretty big too! (rim shot)

I read allot about the rockets, I know there is talk of building a different set up, but are you changing valve lengh too? And what didn't like about the port configuration? And how is he going to change it?

And last , where did the stud craddle come from? Is that a one-off piece or standard SBC? I like it!

Bob, were good friends, but im sorry, I will find your HEAD, and take them, and lock them up in my room with me in it, and throw away the key. those heads are sick, and i think if you improve upon them, and be able to cast them, you could fit a pretty penny in your pocket.

The main girdle came from a guy named Nowak. I think he's outa business, 'cause other people have tried to look him up without any luck.

Sorry to burst ya bubble, but im back in the U.S.A. now. So now are you only having these heads upgraded, or are you looking to make sets of them to sell them? You could rule this business over the dominion head makers cause I think you said the guy that makes these ones rarely delivers n stuff. if you could deliver, and also make sets for LS1's LS2 and such ( and maybe for the 3800 V6's lol), you could make a nasty business. I think they should be called Unstable Heads.

I'm just having my heads "perfected." This is gonna be my last shot at the brass ring. This project has been going on since 1999, and I ain't getting any younger...
