ok im taking out this crapass 305, and im taking my buddies 327 outta his 70 chevelle and putting it in my 88 iroc. if im correct, this car has 19lb fuel injectors ( with a 9th cold start) and it has a 42?mm throttle body. and i beleive the 350 tpi came with 22lb injectors, same throttle body. i dont exactly remember. now basically its gonna be a street car that i can stomp the gas every once in a while on the way to local shows, and maybe take to the track a few times. nothing major, its not a race car. its just gonna get a set of heads/cam and keep the stock tuned port on it. my question is what size injectors should i get, and will i have to make any changes to any of the sensors and what not? i want to know what i may have to buy before i have my guy build it.

you will need to change the intake to a earlier style tpi intake unless you drill out the center bolts on the intake

Well, I for one am trying to get my facts straight before I give a response.

What year is the 327? Does it have all of the accessory bolt holes?

the motor is from 1968 and it is a running motor, it runs quite well actually

What heads? Billy's right in saying some early heads hve no accessory holes. Could present pacakging issues for you.

and check the crank, cause the 302, 327 and 350 shared the same block, I know the 3970010 blocks were used for all 3. The difference would be in the crankshaft.

Bubba.

Enlighten me. Why would he do this? To figure out throw of the crank?

well the 302 had a 3in stroke the 327 had a 3.25in stroke and the 350 had a 3.48 in stroke, all with 4.000 in bore and were used in the same block. as far as I found theres only 1 other block that was used solely for 327s, so just going by block number he could have an engine that could be bigger or smaller than he expected. if it were, that then would throw off his fuel injector sizing and would cause the engine to run improperly.

OK. I was under the assumption that he was certain about the engine displacement. The only way to know is to pull the oil pan and look as you said. Or pull a head and measure the stroke. If he is really concerned but doesn't want to do that he can post the engine suffix code and that should give a rough idea.

i know for certain its a 327. but thanks bubba.

i talked to my engine guy today and he said all im going to have to do is just pop that bitch tpi onto the 327, and since im getting a heads/cam done during the rebuild, makin sure the heads work for tpi wont be a prob =P
