you'll kick yourself in the ass if you sell a 1st gen.

79CamaroDiva
03-13-2008, 11:44 PM
keep in mind, first gen prices have already gone down and are skyrocketing now.. 4th gens are only gonna depreciate for a while. i can't see why this was even a question.

68camaroguy
03-13-2008, 11:46 PM
cuz i get frustrated with the 68. but thats only cuz im broke right now and have barely enough cash to finish the motor

68camaroguy
03-13-2008, 11:47 PM
if i sell i can take what i have plus what i get and then pay off the balance in payments....... but its no longer a question. im gunna keep the 68 i just get too impatient
for my own good

believe it or not, 4th gens are even more expensive to fix when they break... stupid computers

EDIT: but if you wanted to trade that 68 vert for a low mileage 2002, i know a nice z28 you can look at :D

yea i know, but his is an 02, only 20k on it. orig. tires and has rarely ever been revved above 2000rpm. its mint. garage kept. never out in rain or snow

Mike
03-14-2008, 12:13 AM
umm you know they idle at like 1200 right? im sure its seen 2k+ rpm every time it left the garage

79CamaroDiva

if its your friend, he's pullin your chain. 20k means its been drivin a bit, and any LS1 owned bya nyone in the age range of 17-35 is going to get beat on once in a while. Plain and simple. He can tell you he never did, but trust me, you cant drive that kind of power and not want to have fun with it. It's been revved psst 2k, my money is on that its been reved well past 4 or 5k..

And having original tires on at 20k and 5 years old is a little scary if you ask me.

68camaroguy
03-14-2008, 12:19 AM
actually i see the car everyday, never leaves the garage. he wants to be a priest. its only been out drivin 3 or 4 times in the last 3 years. and all of those times are only because i begged and begged for him to take it out lol he doesnt want the car. it was a graduation present from his parents in 2004 and it has basically sat since then

79CamaroDiva
03-14-2008, 12:21 AM
so then from 2002-2004 it got 20k put on it, which means teh PREVIOUS owner drove it a lot more.. you gotta look at everything here. i'm not trying to nit pick with you, but personally I think it would be a giant mistake. Just ask anyone on here who sold their old cars 20 years ago and are now kicking themselves for it

68camaroguy
03-14-2008, 12:24 AM
oh i absolutley agree... im just sooo frustrated with my car and at the fact that theres an 02 ss wasting away a few blocks from me lol... i know im never gunna get rid of my car. but his is just so pretty and so close that its like a tease.. that at any point he could just go hey im gunna go rape some mustangs and look good doing. and im just like hey yea i could rape vettes and mustangs and so much more and look great doing it too. if my car ****in ran... and he doesnt even want his... i think thats why i want his so bad, cuz i know he doesnt... get what im sayin?

yeah, if he hasnt touched it in 4 years, than it was a 10k mile per year in its first 2, thats averege now, it was high back then........and i believe you if you say your friend dosent beat on it, but if he didnt buy it from the dealer in 02, then god only knows what its been through........

bottom line, 68 is sick, 02 is sick, 02 is a dime a dozen though

The '68 will only go up in value as you invest into it.

Shoot, I have had my 02 since new, and been looking for a 1st gen forever to get. Now I finally got my 68 and I am so excited to get it working. As Cody knows, now my 02 will suffer with the fact that I won't put money into it for a while, but now I have both cars I always wanted.

I am glad you decided to keep the 68, like everyone else said its just the better choice and you will always be able to get yourself a 4th gen later on.

JW :D

Stop whining!

I fight this battle all the time. I have considered cashing out on the '69 and buying a 4th gen T/A but then I realize that that's not really what I want. I've owned a 1st or 2nd gen since 2001. I've never driven them. They have always been in pieces. I'm sick to death of doing GD metalwork. But you will get numb to it. Just keep moving forward at whatever pace you can and you will be fine. You are just frustrated right now.

Getting the old car up to speed can be very frustrating. If funds are short, do not take it apart. Do small projects. And don't start any you can't afford to finish now. Your car is drivable now?

You're kidding, right? Not the same look. The badassness is very questionable too, considering we don't know the final product yet. I know what a 68 Camaro can be.

That's 5 demerits for you.

302 Ford motor in a Camaro....you're doing it wrong

If you were gunna be cool about it, it would be a Z28, with a CHEVY 302, sans the goofy Ford stickers.....

5th gen FTW.

:werd:

broke or not, you can find ways to get your car complete. barter your services, swap your lawn furniture for some valve covers, whatever you have to do to get the car done. once done, it's worth more than 5 '02 SSes. getchur priorities in line, man.
