this past week has been hell at my job, i called out monday cuz i could barely function cuz i was so sick, so the dispatcher did my route and finally got them to look at my truck cuz it wouldnt steer and had a really bad front end wobble(id only be complaining bout it to the shop head for months now) find out that the front king pin bushings were GONE, so they get the parts order and it takes em two days to do the bushings and new front brakes, finally get the truck back thursday, and as i leave the shop thursday i notice the lights were kinda dim so im like wtf? and i check the lights at my frist stop(i do post-trip inspections, im the only chase truck driver who even inspects a truck period)and notice that all the lights were dim and my marker light was flashing with my 4ways, which were flashing a million miles an hour, so i radio in and said ill bring it back in at the end of the day, well i continue on and i kept gettin this smell of brakes but thought they had just forgot to wash the oil off the new drums, well when im on the way to empty the truck out, im coming down a long steep-ish hill, and the brakes fade out on me, i barely got it stop be4 i crossed a major road. i radio in and told em i wouldnt move until some1 brought me a truck adn got mine fix. now yesterday i get the truck back "fixed" frist thing i do be4 i leave the yard is check the lights, same problem, im like w/e and i left, 25 stops later, the right front tire would lock up when i touched the brakes and when i was just driving the left front was draggin so much it would want to turn left. i bring it back to the yard and flip out on my boss, the mechanic and told my dispatcher if it aint fixed by monday i was gonna quit. they finally fixed at the end of the day yesterday so i took it out on a test drive to where we keep our containers and all is good again. but thats a week in the life of a trash man.
Ahhh I know how it feels :) This past week was quite awesome tho. We got Netcong Boro tacked onto our easy Friday, which is an extra 2 hours of work per truck, also watched a 5'0ft guy who cant drive an 8 speed and doesnt use his side mirrors back a loaded garbage truck full speed into one of our OWN pickup trucks (with a dump body on it), and push it 10 feet while it was in park. Ive never seen a truck lift its REAR TIRES 3ft off the ground lmao.

haha yea, we're suppose to be gettin an assload worth of FEL work soon, cuz my boss bought another FEL but he wont buy two new fusos, hes got a 60 mack roll-off and a 70s FEL just sittin, havent moved in over 10 years, and he wont sell those, those two trucks could buy him two pack-body fusos so i wont have to deal with a open top and tarping the fricken load. i cant wait till im 21 and get my Class B, im leave there adn doing roll-offs
