If the FCC approves this I see bright days ahead. Howard and O&A!...all for the price of 1. :dancing: I have Sirius and love Stern but i do miss O&A's different type of humor from time to time.

I hope NASCAR comes to XM. I like having it on in the background and I can't get it on FM very well.

It's currently on Sirius, but if they merge who knows

i was always a fan of sirius over XM but if they merge some are bound to be upset with a loss of channels & introduction of new ones.. hopefully they keep the right channels

I can't see this happening. Who is their competition beyond each other? What would satisfy the anti trust laws, allowing them to merge and become the largest (only?) satellite radio provider?

already passed by antitrust dept. just waiting on FCC

http://www.latimes.com/business/printedition/la-fi-xm25mar25,0,5634039.story

The Justice Department approved the proposed $4.6-billion merger of Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. and XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc., determining the new company wouldn't monopolize the market because iPods and other gadgets are giving people more options for listening to music and other programming in their cars.

Think of it this way- before there were satelitte TVs there was only one cable company in most towns, with no competition and that went on for a while.

NASCAR used to be on XM, then Sirius offered them a better deal so they switched. I'm sure that NASCAR radio will still be around when they merge.

I have XM, and have only had small chances to listen to Sirius, but what I have heard I have liked. Hopefully they won't axe too many channels from either provider if/when they merge.

Yeah, I can get 92.5 XTU or 95.1 ZZO when I am just a little south or a little west of where I live. I've tried a powered antenna to no avail.

I have had XM for about 4+ years and Sirius for about 2 years. I like both but Sirius has better rock stations I think, a techno station I wish XM mirrored.

But I like O and A and hate stern. And am so used to XM .. lol

Funny how every O&A fan including themselves hate Stern(supposedly)...he could give two ****s about either of them . There ratings at there best were no where near his, and there terrestrial syndication channels are dropping like flys...They refferance to him pretty often (I listened to them 2 years straight before getting sirius), Ive been listening to sirius since last year and Ive yet to hear there names be brought up . Not sure if they mentioned it but someone brought up to howard that Anthony was at a near by table in the poker room at the borgata and Howard was the bigger man to get up and shake Anthonys hand... Funny how opie does most of the howard bashing and Anthony is all the talent lol. I like those guys and enjoy there style of humor but they need to get off it, Howard could comeback any second and destroy there ratings and thats the truth, and im sure there well aware of it..

I like the merge if it happens. Instead of having 2 trance channels I'll get 4 of them after.

?
1. you don't have to get satalite radio.
2. there is free(but ******) radio that comes with your car.
3. i pods/mp3 players, lots of people just plug them into their car and listen to that.
4. you don't have to have it.

I don't see how this couldn't pass because of the obvious competition from reg radio and portable music players. I've had sirius for over 3 years and would love to have some of xms channels.

they can't raise the price though, cause i will just go get an i pod and plug that **** in.

I was being redundant on purpose because its not something you NEED to have.

Hey, is satellite radio something we NEED to have?

I've put off buying it because of this merger. I'm torn because I love O&A and hear that XM has some good country stations, but I really want the NASCAR radio. I'd like to see it go through so I don't end up buying one or the other and not being happy with either.

Commerical free music is amazing. If you like 10 minutes of commericals and 20 minutes of music(half of which sucks), than by all means stay with poo poo radio :) Money isn't a matter for me, I'd pay $20 a month if they jacked the price.

Sirius President Mel Karmazin testified that the prices would be the same or better because they would't have to spend so much money on advertising, and that they would be able to offer more stations and packages.

That and if they jack prices immediately then people will cry foul.

I have sirius...I was just making a point that they couldn't say it was a monopoly because you don't need it and there is other competition.
