I was at the game. It felt like I was sitting in a playoff game. The atomsphere was great, and the few devils fans in my section got nothing but a hard time from me the entire game hahaha.

I'm just glad to see they FINALLY got some help from other teams, they've been on fire but so have the teams that were chasing them.

I thought for sure the Flyers were going to miss the playoffs. Wash and Pitt are the only teams on a roll right now. Everyone else keeps getting into ties and shootouts. No shootouts in the playoffs! :w00t: I hate that rule change.

The Flyers have been on fire too, it's just that the teams around them kept winning.
If they have to play the Pens in the first round it's going to be some exciting hockey, I don't think there will be anyone left standing. :rofl:

The only reasons the devils are any good is cause they know how to skate on that slush you all ice up there. It's ranked as one of the crappiest ice arena's in the NHL. plus its pretty bad when people prefer to be fans of teams that are OUTSIDE of your state, such as the Flyers, and the Rangers.

prove it. from what i've seen MSG is ranked as having some of the worst ice in the league
THE worst seems to be the Capital's home ice, that must explain why they're doing so well.

I find it funny when the Rangers and Flyers win against the Devils, they get so happy they seem to forget their overall record. It's like a major accomplishment. Quite flattering when you think about it, to have the Devils as the team to beat.
When the Devils beat the Rangers or Flyers, its just another game in a long string of wins. :)

The Devils have a new rink....and the ice there is good from what I heard. Florida and Tampa Bay have the worst ice rink hands down, coming a close 28th is MSG ice(due to the old building).
Playoff wise the Devils/Rangers should be a good one though.
As for instaters not liking the Devils, its true. Theres really no point for them to be here. They should be moved to Canada honestly, to be 26th in attendence and win cups is an embarassment for the league. Even Tampa Bay gave the Lightning a parade with a huge turnout, NJ can barely fill a parking lot for a "Cup Party". South Jersey = Flyers, north jersey = Rangers, Devils = lost inbetween.

28th?!?
and it's mainly from being taken apart/put back together for basketball that takes its toll on the ice from what i've heard

lol devils are the only good team wll only team jersey has. typical ranger or flyer fan says we should get rid of them. jealous? they have won more cups in teh last five years then the rangers have seen playoffs. We will take them out again like the past and the flyers? well after a year like last year i cant believe they played hockey as good as they did this year no matter still have fans. The only reason devils do not sell out and do not have so many fans is cause there a newer team... and they keep playing the way they do the newer generation will have no players or rangers fans. well see what happens in teh playoffs :) Go devs!

I think the Devils have plenty of fans. They just elect not to pay the crazy cost of going to a game. Everywhere I go I see Devils hats, jackets, bumper stickers, etc. But living in this state makes it real hard to afford anything other than normal bills. All you kids living at home, with few responsibilities and expenses, won't understand that until you're forced to pay for everything you need.
I can only imagine the frustration the Devil's staff feels at finding a way to ballance their own expenses (salaries) with the attendance level at the arena. As long as they keep winning, there will be fans wearing the merchandise. If they slide back to levels like Tampa, then the fan base will be gone and the team won't be able to afford playing in NJ. Kind of a catch 22 with them.
Having said all that, I'll be rooting for the Devils... from the comfort of my own basement. :P

Theres no jealousy, its basic economics. A team that ranks 26th in attendence gets a new rink. 65% of it was funded with NJ TAX PAYERS MONEY. How that happend is beyond me, but with Corzine running the show it didn't surprise me. I never said the Devils weren't good, they just have no fan base outside of a 30 mile area. If they were moved to Winnipeg, Hartford, Quebec, or Vegas the team would flourish and sell out on a constant basis.

Maybe. But the Isles don't have a problem selling tickets and they suck. And NY is just as expensive as NJ. The Rangers have a deep history, so its obvious they sell out every game. The Devils are indeed a good team, they just don't have a good backing and they never will. Not being in the middle of the Rangers/Flyers market. You should buy the Hockey News sometimes, you would see where I am coming from. There was a huge article in it a few months back saying the Devils would be well better off out of NJ. And it had way more pros than cons.
I don't hate the Devils either surprisingly(you guys have to play game with "sid rules too"; as I am a Flyers fan. All my hate is aimed at Pittsburgh and Toronto :)

:bs:
In early May the state’s Local Finance Board and the Newark City Council approved the city’s financing plan, in which the Newark Housing Authority will sell bonds to raise about $220 million. According to the Star-Ledger, the city plans to spend $210 million from that sale on the arena – about 30 percent of the city’s annual budget. (The Devils will pay the balance of $100 million.) The remaining $10 million from the bond sale would be spent on neighborhood and capital improvement projects. The city will pay off the bonds with the annual lease payments of $12.5 million received from the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey (PA) for the right to operate Newark’s marine terminal.

Um, they've been in NJ for over a quarter of a century :lol: It's not a typical Flyers fan comment from Chemical, NJ's market BLOWS. No one said the Devils aren't a good team, we all know they are...it's their market and fan base that sucks goat nuts.

I guess the article i read was wrong. *shrug*. But the no market is true. Look at the numbers.
2003 = 23rd
2004 = 24th
2005 = no season
2006 = 26th
2007 = 26th
2008 = 23rd
So the new arena bumped it, but its still in the bottom of the league.
