Got this in a forward...thought it was pretty funny...
The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate. If we spend that money at Wal-Mart, the money will go to China. If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs, if we purchase a computer it will go to India, if we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala, if we purchase a good car it will go to Japan, if we purchase useless crap it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy. The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in the US.

I guess all production of cars and profits of sales from cars go right to Japan?
You know....America still makes cars.
Jaggass....
(jaggass comment and all other insulting comments were not inteded to the OP, but to the person who developed that email with the understanding that people buy only Japanese cars and/or that America doesnt make a car that people want to buy. Big Al does not support any purchase of any Japanese vehicles nor does/will he hate you if you do. Big Al does also not promise he wont make fun of you and/or pull a line out of the Fast and Furious if and when you ever open your hood.)

I'm going to save mine as well.
Also, there's a misconception that everyone is getting $600. You could get up to $600, but the amount all depends on your income and how you filed your taxes, I believe.
al you cant save it, the money is to stimulate the economy and therefore you must do your duty as an american and spend it..........
there is one other wonderful thing other than beer and women that is made here......you have to drive to the end of 206 and hang a left untill you cant go any further....:) ac
personally ill probably use it as half the money for my roll cage? or a k-member?
the paper i got said single americans that paid taxes last year get at least 600

when are these supposed to be coming finally? I've been hearing about them for months. If everybody gets one, it makes it seem like monopoly money and probably won't do anything but once again reduce the value of the dollar.

I like how it cost some 42 million dollars for the gov't to send out the mailers telling us we are getting more money
I'll be putting it towards my gambling habit  JK
It'll probably go towards my mortgage, sorry Bush but I'd rather get out from under that debt than give it too the 17 year old working at the footlocker.

I'm gonna put it towards my property taxes. That way the state can take it and send it to the Union City School District where they pay the bus drivers mandatory 6 hours/month overtime to charge their cell phones (39 cell phones in total at $345/month for service), and where five bus drivers were paid between $39,000 to $73,000 in overtime in a single year). So it's going to good use....uh, yeah :rollseye:

Yeah, the shame of it is that they are doing it to increase spending to stimulate the economy but most of us will not be spending it right away.

We'll probably get peanuts, but if it's the full $600, I'm definitely gonna buy new door panels for the Monte and bank the rest.

Save it until I find something worthwhile to buy. Or just put it aside for my vacation at the end of summer and not have to worry about the money at that time.

correct me if im wrong but this rebate is not exactly free and clear money; it is to start but come tax season you may end up paying for it.
"While the rebate depends on your 2007 income and tax liability, it is actually a rebate toward your 2008 taxes. According to the proposed plan, in 2008, taxes would be cut from 10 percent to zero percent on the first $6,000 dollars of taxable income for individual taxpayers.
It's like a one time tax cut for 2008, but you get the rebate now instead of waiting to file your 2008 taxes.
Because this is an advance payment on your 2008 taxes, your refund next year could be more (or less!) depending on your 2008 income."
depending on your finacial situations and taxes for the previous year it may simply be an advance on you potential refund for 08'.

If it comes in enough time - the car show in O.C. Maryland should be a blast with a pocketful of stimulating money economy wise!

Let me start off by saying, reading comprehension pwns all of those who said you will be getting 600 or getting at least 600 or whatever
it says you can get up to 600 not at least, not 600 on the dot. it bases how much you get on how much you made last year. there is a calculator on the site to give you a rough idea on how much you will be getting. mine said 342.00 not 600......

I'm not seeing that on the IRS site. But I see this:
http://www.irs.gov/newsroom/article/0,,id=179181,00.html
Q. Will the payment I receive in 2008 reduce my 2008 refund or increase the amount I owe for 2008?
A. No, the Stimulus Payment will not reduce your refund or increase the amount you owe when you file your 2008 return.
