I am tossing a set of Lakewood shocks in the front of the Chevelle, and when I went to put them in tonight I knew it was a bad sign when the bolts were already welded to the shock base. The design calls for the bolts to go through the bottom of the shock and bolt into the threads on the control arm. Not only that, but the bolts were about 1/4 too close together so I couldnt ream out the threads and just put the bolts through. Has this ever happened to anyone else before? I am going to email lakewood and see what they say, but other than that doed anyone have any ideas on what to do?

The box is right, but that doesnt mean anything. I emailed Lakewood to see what they say. Who knows though.

Well Lakewood got back to me
They are not our shocks, we do notweld anything on our shocks.

 They came in your box with your instructions and your other crap you toss in there people!

The guy I deal with at the speed shop said to bring them back and he will deal with them, so hopefully I will have another set here Monday.

Bring your shock with you so you can make sure the new ones match. Maybe someone tried to Make then fit something else then returned then?

You have just experienced the benefit of doing business with a speeed shop rather than EBAY, or the mail order guys!! Now, the salesperson can deal with Lakewood instead of you making 1000 emails, return authorizations, ignorant phone salespeople.

Yeah, I am good friends with the guy who owns the speed shop, he used to be my neighbor and I would rather do business with him than online. I was just trying to save him any hassle, but oh well. I will drop mine back off today. I think John is right that someone tried to modify them and they just repackaged them.

Turns out they were most likely packaged wrong. I have a new set on the way for monday. Hopefully they will be the correct ones.
