In another thread yesterday, i wrote the following....

As of today, I myself am currently fighting a change to my duties. I am here in a supply unit as a truck driver, trained and all. YET today, I got tasked out to another unit, basically HQ, to be on the PSD(personal security detachment) team for our sgt major and LT colonel. Not a bad job in itself, but its BS. I was one of the best soldiers in our distribution unit and now randomly chosen for this. If i can't get out, im going out on a medical profile(messed up my ankle bad since basic) so they'll have to swap me back out.

Well last night i went out to eat with my friend who returned from Iraq last month. He highly suggested that I get out of the PSD asap, and I trust him, lol. So, this morning at 6am my "new" platoon sergeant told me that my original squad leader came to him yesterday, "crying" lol, saying that they couldnt take me from my old unit and i was needed. Well the SGT told my squad leader basically "tough s---, it was too late" and i was already there.
Well while getting ready to meet up for vehicle engagement simulation training at 730 this morning with the PSD, I was informed the SGT said i was staying back since i was being replaced. So i win! lol. I think once all the NCOs and 1st SGT in my original unit found out i was gone, the "stuff" hit the fan. yesterday afternoon 2 SGTs from my section pulled me aside and said dont worry i wont be there long.
Basically it comes down to the fact ive proven myself as being responsible and getting the job done. Plus in a unit of truck drivers, im the only one with a mechanics backgroud. When stuff breaks in the feild or on the road and theres no maintence personell to help, Im a valuable asset. I saved their asses in FL several times alone. There was no way they were gonna lose me to becoming a bodygaurd. And im hoping to get my next rank tomorrow... time will tell.
As for my ankle... eh ill survive for now. lol

NICE....don't let them F with your duties.....your already doing them enough of a favor just being enlisted.

true, but like ive said before, in any of the armed forces, no matter what you're trained for, they'll put you where they need you. My thing is, i could have been anything, even military intelligence with the highest security clearences, but i didnt want that. my asvab score was high enough that it was mandtory for me to take the DLAB test(defense language apptitude battery), which sees how easily you can learn a new laguage(so they can make you learn arabic, lol) i got 1 point under the required score so i was lucky, but i wasnt really trying. Hell, my lowest GT score was 135, i had several in the 150s. You can take classes to raise your gt score, but only if you're under 110 i think, cuz over that is considered great. I had to show my SGTs my scores for them to believe me.

In my HS they allowed us to take a version of the asvab the recruiters used starting our sophomore year, I actually scored decently high, I kept getting pulled out of class to talk with them. If I hadn't ruptured the tendons in my ankle I'd be a weapons expert in the marines...
