I just got home a few minutes ago instead of being at work. This morning my wheel came off on the garden state parkway.
You guys know how people get when theirs an accident on the parkway and how they feel towards the people involved, they're pissed & dont care.
My spacer on my front left wheel got loose jiggled snapped 2 studs off my rotor. Then the other lug nuts for the spacer came off and th wheel went flying down the turnpike leaving me driving for 1/6 of a mile with no front left wheel. I WILL NEVER BUY EBAY SPACERS AGAIN!!
I just spent 70 on a tow for 1 mile to a gas station where they replaced my rotor and assembly for 68 bucks plus 65 dollars in parts. Not to menton missing a days worth of work which I problaly would have made $350 with the route I was told I had today! All because of a crappy made spacer. I heard horror stories about these things before but didnt think it would happen to me!
Any one else running spacers on their thirdgens? Anyone with loose spacer stories, any one running ebay ones I should say?

+1, physics is a bitch. No more then maybe 1/4". Did you even have good thread engagement on the lugs? Those lugs are not that long.
Edit:
Oh snap you have adapters, what are they made out of?

I was more pissed than scared, a little in awe too.
Cheap aluminum.
"edit" Heres a link to the same adapters but from another ebay seller. Iv had mine for almost a year. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Wheel-Adapters-5-Lug-Camaro-Corvette-ZR1-S10-Spacers-2_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ42614QQihZ017QQitemZ2 70233050293QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW

Ugh. Did the instructions tell you to retorque the wheels & the adapter lugs every 100 miles for the first 500 miles or so? that is a must with new aluminum wheels so i might think it is for adapters too.

Iv had mine on for over a year now. It was my driver side front, but I couldnt tell if it was my adapter or my tranny mount. I snapped my stock tranny mount a few months back and it felt &sounded the same. I figured ill get to the next exit(seeing as i was in the far left lane and no room to move off to the side) and check out whats up. Didnt make it that far.

i have a feeling you will be checking your lug nuts from now on...
(cliff's notes down at the bottom)
it's a good idea for all of us. there is what they call a (pre- and post-) trip inspection for semi trucks that has to be performed every single time before you get behind the wheel and once you stop. most people forget about it after they get their CDL, but it's a good idea even in a car. that way when the cop pulls you over claiming that you have a taillight out, you can tell him you just checked them before leaving the house, so it must have just happened (wink, wink).
things to check before driving: bulbs, turn signals, headlights, four ways, brake lights; check the tires and lug nuts (one easy way to tell if a lug has worked itself loose is a slight trickle of rust colored, dried water running from the lug (which is steel) and the bolt (which is steel) because if they are torqued properly water can't get in there); tires; brakes; emergency brake; start the car and listen for anything out of the ordinary; make sure your floor mats are in the proper place and secure so they don't get stuck in the accelerator pedal.
we are so used to just jumping in our cars and putting gas and oil in them that we forget there are a thousand other working parts that need attention from time to time.
one time the trip inspection caught a brake (air) that was about to fail (1/2 inch wrench on your person at all times in just such a case to back the caliper off of the brake (laymen's terms)) that would have made a mess outta me, my co-driver and anyone else within 3 football fields (the amount it takes to stop an 80,000 pound truck).
anyway, CLIFF'S NOTES: check stuff before you drive to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

dont u hate that? u never know who it is either. on my beater my tire was low on air so i went to fill it up...someone SUPERGLUED all four of my valve stem caps. So i had to drive on low air until i could bring it to the shop, it was 3 bucks for each valvestem, and like 60 some odd dollars in labor.

Buy adapters from Skulte. I got mine from them years ago and never had a problem.
