Its been going around by word of mouth and text messages so I hear. A buddy told me.

Even if everyone boycots tomorrow, they will be buying the next day...it doesn't work

Hence for the need for alternatives if we want the price of gas to come down.

But don't count on it ever happening (the price coming down too much).

you would have to do it for like 10 days or so. one day hurts the small business owner, not the "big guy". oh and i am gunna fill up tomorrow, blow all that gas, and do it two more times. but good luck!

Europe pays the USD equivalent of 5 dollars PER LITER not gallon, LITER. 3.8 liters to a gallon thats $19 per gallon we have NOTHING to complain about, we are a spoiled society because we had $.99per gallon gas 10 years ago.

DING! People would rather blame Bush, our government, OPEC etc. The fact is it's a ton of factors. Our dollar is down, speculators are influencing the price, a lot of refineries are outdated etc.

Regardless of the reasons it sucks for us.

Europe builds their road taxes into the gas so it's an unfair comparison to say Europe pays $5+ pre gallon.

The Goverment doesnt contorl pices but they Control the CAFE standards which were suppose to be updated ever year. They havent in over 10 years and the standards are alittle less now. This would over all effect the price of gas becuase it would forced car companies to think of effiency and alternative fuels alot sooner then now. So it is partly the American goverments fault we are in a crisis now. California changed lwas in there state to change the CAFE standards and auto compmanies sued the state. Gas companies have deep pockets in the goverment and in auto companies.

Venzuela pays so cheap because most of there cars run off the sugar cane and go figure america gets alot of oil from that country. They seem smart to me run there cars off sugar cane and sell oil to a country like america who needs it.

Think you pay a lot for gas? Perhaps you'd prefer to live in Venezuela.

NEW YORK (CNN/Money) – Gasoline prices in the United States, which have recently hit record highs, are actually much lower than in many countries. Drivers in some European cities, like Amsterdam and Oslo, are paying nearly 3 times more than those in the U.S.

The main factor in price disparities between countries is government policy, according to AirInc, a company that tracks the cost of living in various places around the world. Many European nations tax gasoline heavily, with taxes making up as much as 75 percent of the cost of a gallon of gasoline, said a spokesperson for AirInc.

In a few Latin America and Middle-East nations, such as Venezuela and Saudi Arabia, oil is produced by a government-owned company and local gasoline prices are kept low as a benefit to the nation's citizens, he said. All prices updated March, 2005.

Welcome to free market capitalism.

When the demand is constant, constrict the supply and take an Uncle Scrooge bath in all of your money.

wow, somebody else knows what's going on... it's a shame not all of them get it.

something to think about: fully 1/4 of all crude used by our country comes from North America.
almost 50% of crude used by our country comes from countries in OPEC.
only 10% of crude is imported from Saudi Arabia. say what you will, but if you want to get their attention, something BIG needs to happen. you'd have more of an impact on North American crude production and OPEC countries, which include Ecuador, Nigeria and Venezuela, than the Saudis with any boycott.

these figures come from raw data on the Department of Energy's website: http://tonto.eia.doe.gov/dnav/pet/pet_move_impcus_a2_nus_ep00_im0_mbbl_m.htm

edit: whenever applicable, my posts will contain a link to the information i use in any argument, so at least you know i will be doing my research.

So? That's the point of capitalism. Only way to stop it is for the gonvernment to buy out ALL the gas corporations; or at least all the american ones and forcing out tho others, and impose some form of variable limitation tied into the price per barrel. And do you really see that happening?

I only read about half the article because the chart holds pretty much true up to date for germany

When i calculated it when i was over there in DECEMBER it was around 5 or 6 dollars a gallon for diesel............

this is why i posted it up ;)

And if you want me to I can call my cousin and ask what its up to there ;)
