bad luck seems to follow me everywhere. last month i got a speeding ticket, this month i get into another debocle.
i was driving down a street in my town when i pass an officer, who pulls a uturn and pulls me over for my license play not being mounted in the front.
i know the deal, license registration insurance...i forgot that my insurance card didnt come in yet, and the lady at my insurance company said if i do get pulled over to call them and they could verify that it is insured. the officer didnt let me call, so he wrote me a ticket for that too...
luckily i called the insurance company to make sure the card was coming a few days back, and i called my bro who was at home and did have the card, drove in his vette 5 mins to where i got pulled over and gave me the insurance card. i showed the officer who then told me id need to talk to the prosecutor to get it dropped.
so 2 tickets, license plate not mounted in the front, and failure to show proof of insurance.
while he pulled around he got another good look at my car, he stopped again, got out and looked at my inspection sticker. he told me it was fake (which i knew) told me it was a 600 dollar ticket after everything, and asked me if its fake or real, i was honest and told him it was fake...
he let me go for that, but took my sticker, so basically i dont even know how im going to get it to the dmv.
so im in trouble again...crap haha

that sucks. the prosecutor should let you go on the insurance card, say you just got it and forgot to put it in your car or whatever. you could even say your plate mount broke because some a-hole parked on it at a store....fake inspection stickers....bad idea...

he said "o, the finals are now, what were you doing when you bought it in march"

Easily dropped man, don't sweat it. However, let it be a lesson learned, if you know something is illegal on the car(the inspection sticker) all it takes is something stupid(no front plate) to get nailed for it.

A cat is dirt cheap and only costs like 2 hp so why risk the big $$ ticket. I put dual 3" cats on my car for $50, it's a no brainer. And mount the plate, make sure all your lights are working so there's no good reason to be pulled over.

You're polluting the earth, maaaan! We don't wanna breathe your smoke, maaaan! It's bringing me down!
Seriously, look at it this way:
Fraudulent inspection sticker= $500
Failure to inspect (Usually comes with the other)= Another $187
Dynomax high flow 3-way cat from Jeg's= $60
Guess with one I went with?

How bad was your fake? Was it unscannable or did you make it yourself with a printer? Curious because I know "somebody" who is getting a simiar sticker soon.

a fast glimpse wouldnt catch it...but if you are looking at it closely it was pretty bad. the number of the month...which is supposed to be thick and dark, was thin and skinny, there were air bubbles.
the thing is when i bought it, i thought it was a real sticker, the kid told me it was a real sticker and wasnt printed or anything...he kind of lied. whatever i guess.

Fake stickers just aren't worth it. Sooner or later, it gets noticed. And then it gets expensive. If you can't pass at the MVC, find a friendly service station that gives out real stickers and pony up the $60 or so bucks most places charge. Depending on where you go, there are a lot of cops that look for stickers, and some of them are even good enough to catch a fake in that "quick glance." No sticker or a failed sticker is better (And less expensive) than a fake.

Again, why not just put a cat in it. Sure cheaper then tickets, and the loss of 5 hp is negligible.

i think thats what im going to have to do. i know a guy who knows a guy who does inspections at his shop and wont pass a car without a cat but may let other things slide, and its a REAL sticker.
its not like my car is a danger it just has random stuff that need to be fixed to pass inspection...like the parking brake, and reverse lights stuff like that

You can get both tickets dropped with a picture of you plate mounted and with your insurance card. Just have to go through the hassle of going to court. And get you thing inspected.m Its better to have a failure then no inpection at all.

you really need to work on that lithp.
anyway, what everyone else says. get your ish straight. you do not want the cops in your own town gunning for you. it's a messed up situation, but everytime they see your car they will pull you over. it's the truth. i told my gf one time to drive my car into the center of town and do a circle around one of the blocks and come back home. i had long blonde hair at the time (rock 'n' roll, baby) and so did she. she only got into the center of town and she was pulled over. 'course her ish was straight, so all the cop could do was wish her a nice day. he thought it was me, driving on the suspended list again...
seriously, get your car straightened out. that way when they pull you over you can laugh silently to yourself that they aren't going to find anything wrong.

what if i get the sticker from the dmv station but really dont have it inspected...theres alot of random crap with the car that needs to be fixed to pass inspection, and even then it may not be garunteed to pass without me switching around the valvetrain a bit

I just can't imagine how much 'random crap' there could be before I wonder if the car's really safe or not. I know right now my Jeep won't pass an MVC inspection because the tires stick out beyond the fender flares...but that's it. No cracks in the windshield, the brakes work, the lights and signals all work. The biggest hurdle in my eyes in the emissions test. Is this what you're most concerned with? If so, you should be alright as long as you're not blowing smoke and your catalytic converter (You know, the one you're gonna buy:wink:) is alright. Oh, and no leaks. Tighten everything from the manifolds back.

well..when i say 'random crap' i dont mean stuff that would kill someone on the road. like, my reverse lights dont go on when i throw it in reverse, i could fail for that and from what i hear i have to do something in the tranny to make that work. my rear tires stick out beyond the flares also. my friend said it wont pass mvc inspection either because of the cam thats in there. but trust me, the car is safe to ride around it, just has stupid things not done to it to make it fail an mvc inspection

Do you have an aftermarket or replacement shifter? It sounds like the reverse lights aren't hooked up to that. And if that's the case, I'd check the neutral safety switch as well.

I don't know that they check if the reverse lights are working. My 79 has a switch mounted on the dash for the reverse lights because they don't work off the shifter. It actually passed DMV inspection once.

Put a cat on it... you barely lose anything with one. Your inspection stick though...theres ways around that.

most don't. you are supposed to check every exterior light and reflector. i think you need one interior light....not sure
