Any help would be greatly appreciated on this one. My inspection is due this month for my SS and I need somewhere to go where they will pass it. I have an off road Y and long tubes. Im getting a vw rabbit to drive as my daily driver next week so I won't be driving the SS all the time anymore only on weekends. Does anyone know of a shop to get it inspected? Ill throw em some cash too I just want it done.

If you still have cats you can more or less go to any inspection station
Why else do you think the car would fail?

He states that he has an off road y pipe, an off road y pipe means that his car does not have a cat, thus why they call the y pipe off road because its meant for off road use only. if he had a regual y pipe then he would have cats. I dont know any where you can go but what someone can do is private message you one. If not well then just buy a high flow cat and have it put on.

as long as you don't have a check engine light, and all the monitors are set, you shouldn't have a problem with inspection at a private shop since most don't look under the car.

Really? News to me. The state sends setup cars all the time. When i used to be in that business, I and every guy I knew that does private inspections always checked cars - espcially ones they don't know. No kid in a Camaro is worth the fines & loss of license. I'm sure some guys screw up, but most do not.

Probably should have thought of that before you got an offroad y pipe?
Can someone tell me why do people start to get all crazy just about a month or so before inspection? Why do people get so nervious about inspection at all?
You have an off-road y pipe, and now you have to pay to have it "done".
So after the hundreds of dollars not to mention the act of breaking the law year after year, at what point would it have just been easier to get a high flow catted y pipe.
What would you have lost? 2-3hp? Some sound?
Going through inspection with my brother the other day, his car is OBDII set up, and I didnt see anyone look under the car with a mirror for a cat.

thank you. but i guess a young guy in a loud muscle car would attract a little attention. its funny all the stories i hear of people having their cats cut out by junk yard whores for the money!

They dont check under the car for cats anymore. Not the newer cars anyway, just hook up to the computer and if there are no errors it passes that part of the test. But if the car is super loud as mine was without cats at one time, it may attract attention and they may check. Just put the high flow cats on it, sounds way better anyway, lot throatier growl instead of the raspier sound with no cats.

The reason I am getting all worried a month before it is due is because I was expecting to go to the same guy that passed it before. Now he does not do inspection. But since I am putting an LS6 intake on this week and getting it tuned at TTP I am wondering if they can tune the rear o2s out anyways for the SES light. Does anyone know if this would pass?

It will pass the plug in test, but that doesn't mean they won't look under the car. They still do often, and they are more inclined to check under a sports car that obviously isn't stock....
