Wow John thats an odd one.. Closest I can get is a .927x2.5" with a .095 wall and 79gram mass. >725 is a tiny diameter.. What the hell is this?

one of the road race harley buells that i prepair - i actually be cutting it down to just under two inches -- i have .791 in stock but the rod bush is already .0017 and its spiral not C clip so i cant re cut it < but i could change the bush than i need pistons - i also have a set of casidiam titanium pins but @ 100 bucks each plus i would have to switch the rods as they as you know run no bush direct on rod end i would have to re balance the assembly sooo i am stuck -- jz

thanks i have as well but mine lathe wont hold 2 tenths over 2 inches and i found 2 --.7915 pins that are a little heavy but the bike will be a B practice unit this week end, not an A bike so the 20 gram difference wont matter as much they dont max the B bike out like the A unit - thanks tho -- jz

I calculated the mass density of a pin made out of AISI D2 Tool Steel 2.000" in length, with and OD of 0.792 and an ID of 0.707 (0.085" wall thickness) and used 0.278 in/lbs3 as mass density factor and came up with 25.3 grams each, again these are 2" long pieces.

you are in the ball park on the pin but the ones i found were not high end tool steel like you speced and i have a 10 gram weight difference each piston in my balance sooo as it ends up being 1 balance factor % difference ( heaver ) than it should be knowing a harley motor is not 50% like a chevy ( the V is 45* and the rods are on one crank pin inside one another ) its 60% for a stock motor and we use #s like 57 / 58 % percent for sustained high RPM motors so the top rpm is smooth instead of being right on the balance its backed up about 500 RPMs - its already done and picked up - i just want to say thanks to all who came to my aid -- jz

John like I said keep my number around and I will do what I can to help any time. You know the business well and anything can be done if you know the right people. We do know a few of the same. My machinist said with a few days notice he can get pins. I also have boxes of pins and odd pistons but not in the size you needed. Have a Great Holiday everyone. Joe
