Not saying this means anything...just thought it was interesting to read and wanted to pass it along...
July/August 2008 issue of Pontiac Enthusiast that's currently on newsstands reports:
Last issue, we reported that Pontiac has officially said it has no plans to produce a new Firebird. But recent conversations with unnamed PMD sources suggest that the company is still trying to gauge interest in "the F-word," as they struggle to figure out the future product mix ....
Discussions with our PMD sources indicate that it's true: Pontiac doesn't have plans to produce a new Firebird. But they are keeping a close eye on the market opportunities - specifically Mustang sales, and soon those of the Challenger and Camaro. GM will also be carefully scrutinizing the bottom-line of the Camaro project, because adding a second derivative could help offset costs, so long as Firebird sales wouldn't simply cannibalize Camaro sales.
