well, i just got a serious education at this website (http://blogs.mustangandfords.com/6229850/miscellaneous/classic-recreations-offers-official-eleanor-recreations/index.html). now, you know i don't hang out anywhere but bowtie websites, but let's just say i got a little 'lost' and found this information. it seems that the other company, the one that went out of business because they were spending their customers' money on things other than their cars, was NOT licensed by halicki films productions to call the car Eleanor, even though that's what everyone called their car. it was named, i think, super snake, or some other name, but it was NOT Eleanor.

now, with that said, it seems that Halicki Co. has licensed a company to produce licensed vehicles that are called Eleanor. funny reading, you should read it all when you have a chance. also, the new company will be holding their customers' cash in an escrow (federally bonded) account until the car is complete, just so people know it's all above board and no shady dealings like with that other company.

the new company? Classic Recreations (http://www.classic-recreations.com/) will be using old cars and the newly released DII mustang bodies to get the job done. i don't know if people from the previous company, the mechanics and body workers and others, will be involved with the new company. i do know that when the other company went ****-up there were a lot of GOOD people put out of work. it would be interesting to find out if any of the older guys would get hired by the new company, or if the new company is comprised of all of the people put out of work by other company. i also know there is quite a bit of warranty work that remains unfinished when the other company closed their doors.

anyway, they can be ordered in two varieties: the 535-horsepower FI Model, promising estimated top speeds of 172 mph and 4.90-second 0-60-mph times priced at $139,900, or the 770-horsepower FIS Model ($189,900) with a modified rear suspension. i guess people just really need to spend all of their money on cars like this, as there is already a waiting list...

they actually built the motorcycle for Shelby; one of his fund-raising efforts for one of the agencies he represents. i am not sure of the business arrangement between OCC and the d-bags, but i thought maybe Sr. ordered a car, and there was to be some type of cross-platform advertising or some such deal. in any event, the money raised by the motorcycle went to a good cause. and my understanding was that both Shelby and Foose, which had license agreements with the d-bags, turned their backs on the company and its customers before the doors were locked. not sure who gave them the heads-up, but around the same time the feds started investigating the operations of the d-bags. it's a very tangled web, to be sure.

the good thing is, the new company and the license agreement with Halicki means Eleanor will be on the street (again).

"America is all about speed - hot, nasty bad-ass speed."

-Eleanor Roosevelt.

Yes, I know it's a misquote.
