I need a long style water pump for a sbc. Needs to be fitted for alt and power steering brackets, I bought one at Pep Boys today and it only had holes to attach the water pump to the block nothing for the alt or p/s :( .

Also looking for stock height or lowered front springs. My front springs sit RIDICULOUSLY high. I think the guy before me wanted to off road this car or something.

i have, or think i still have, a long iron water pump. I had it on my car with power steering and whatnot so i think it has the holes. Do you know what holes it needs and where? i can check, you can have the pump, its very low mileage, and i think it was painted black. Where about are you located?

is it just the front springs? they may not be indexed properly, that will cause the front to sit high, check that first. the end of the coil in the a-arm spring pocket needs to be between the 2 drain holes.

Um i got the water pump but its doesnt have any holes tapped out for the powersteering bracket or alt bracket to attach to.that is why I asked if they looked up the wrong application. Or maybe your car is not stock and you need to look up another application. Just thinking out loud here, there are only so many variations of the water pump that has been installed on millions of cars & trucks.

Edit:

Here, I looked on rockauto site. This is what I meant about wrong application. Did Pep Boyz give you the lower one?

Your car is probably a mismatch of parts from various years at this point. You should go back to Pep Boys and have them bring out a pump and then go out and compare it. Keep jumping around several years at a time, you should be able to find out what's on the car now and replace it.

remember the serpentine style (88-82) is reverse rotation

The pump they gave me was actually like the one on the top. Only has 4 holes drilled out to mount the water pump to the motor. Mismatched parts over the years DEF!! I donno what to do the car wont stop overheating. Radiator has been flushed twice new thermostat(160) new lower radiator hose. Only thing i can think of is the water pump is going, after i shut the car off the radiator begins to leak form the cap a little bit now too.

If the cap is leaking, it's either excessive pressure buildup, or a bad cap (which could contribute to overheating somewhat). Might wanna grab a new cap to be sure (they are only a few bucks).

Also - you do have the plastic air dam installed to help get air under the car up into the radiator, don't you?

Air dam makes big difference.

I have a post for the air dam in the classifieds section. That and the fan shroud are being picked up this week! I havnt had this problem before, even with out the air dam. Air dam WILL help I know that, but its not the main cause of my situation. Exactly what is I still dont know tho UGHHH!

No air dam or fan shroud could easily be the cause....how long have you been running without them?

Don't forget that with the exhaust leak in the y-pipe and it running lean it will run hotter as well. Get that y-pipe sealed up so it doesn't leak and then see if the carb runs better with no backfires.

Put my new hooker cat back on yesterday. Dropped it off at the shop to be welded up. They welded up the ypipe and the catback together.
The ypipe is leaking pretty bad from the flange where it connects to the headers :( doh!

It has no backfire now but im still replacing that crappy ypipe with a hedman ypipe sometime soon.

It runs hot just idling(210), Seems like this just started running hot like this since the first 80 degree day(230).
