New rims

By the end of the summer, if not sooner, i want to get a new set of rims. I have the chome SS ten spokes but they are completly pitted out on the inside, and the visibile surface really has only a few spots that are not spreading. However i dont want to deal with chrome anymore and especially hate that fact that i have to take them off in the winter.

Im looking for an 18" rim, gloss black spokes, machined lip (must be a very deep lip) and wide enough to atleast fit a 275 tire.

something like this but wider than 8.5 so i can fit a bigger tire on there

oh and without the rivets - although they dont bother me that much on that rim for some reason

i think your car would look sick with a body colored rim with polished lip.......then again i just love that gray

yea i was originally thinking about gun metal gray rims with a polished deep dish lip but im not sure how close the gun metal is to the darkshadow dray paint - so i was thinking black now beacause it would fit in with the color scheme too (black side mirrors, black berger, black hood scoop and headlights, dark tint. But i like your thinking too

black will work fine.....im just addicted to color matched rims (was gonna powdercoat my prostars pewter)

Fit & fit properly are not the same thing. My notes show 9.0-11.0 recommended rim width for a 275/40/17. It is always best to check with the tire maker - there is sometime slight variation from brand to brand (since some 275s are wider then others).

Me too. The factory Firehawk rims are 8.5" with 275/40/17.

I'll see if I can find any old firestone info - that tire is long out of prod I think.

I was surprised I did not trip on a tire with a diff size allowed. I thought I would.
Perhaps they found issues and chenged the spec since then.

maybe. but as most of us know, some off brand tire sizes are narrower than most name brands so that plus 8.5" combo could work well.

well getting that rim in any size from 8.5 to 10 is not a problem, I was shocked to read that the 1st link i posted, that camaro has them in a 20-19 offset combo and they look great IMO. Would never think about going larger than 18's till i looked those pics, they just dont look that big to me.

but either way i want a rims like that just have to find the right one - The Foose Speedster II's are awsome, just $$$

Also driving home tonight was fun with my 275's as they car just hydroplanes so easily with wide tires, just got me thinking if i really wanted to go that wide again. But it looks so much better

You shouldn't have too much of a problem with hydroplaning as long as you get a good dry/wet tire. Don't cheap out on something as important as tires....

I currently have some Goodyear Eagle F1's on there and i dont plan on buyin cheap tire for my new rims.
