I had to make a late run before to Lowe's to get some bolts, and on the way home I hit 7-11 for a Slurpee. When I went in there was a guy filling up 3 boxes with Slurpees, so I laughed and said to him "Wow, you must be thirsty!" It turned out that the guy was a fireman, and he was taking the Slurpees back to the firehouse, because the firehouse was w/o power due to an outage, and the poor firemen were sweating their azzes off. My heart went out to those guys, because I have nothing but respect for those guys who lay their lives on the line every day. My furnace caught on fire a few years back, and thanks to those guys getting over to my place ASAP there was minimal damage. Anywho, I then noticed the fireman getting the Slurpees was wearing a leg brace, and he didn't look like he was gonna have an easy time carring those boxes out. So, I told him to wait a min and I'd give him a hand. Then I got myself a Slurpee, and helped him carry the boxes to the counter. I told him to let me take care of the bill, since I had to pay for mine anyways. He didn't want me to do it, but I told him to let me pay some tribute to a bunch of heros. Hell, 30 bux and a few minutes of my time made me feel like a MILLION bux! And to top it off he was driving a Grand Am GT, and he told me he is a Pontiac man through and through. :)
