I like the British version best. Too bad Benny Hill is dead, they coulda had him chasing hotties around in the cars, and going for drives w/ that 'lil bald headed dude while schmaking him on the head!

Top Gear is IMO, the best car tv show on the planet. Apparently other people think as well. Yeah, they bash the everloving crap out of American cars, but its done by the British, so its gunna be funny. The way the do thier car reviews blows the doors off the crap you see with Autoweek, Motor Trend, or the old Car and Driver shows. Its much more vivid, much more intense then just watching a car go through some 0-60mph tests.

and its aimed more at humoring the audience than educating them.

True in a way. Its more of a show about 3 british guys talking about thier opinons of the car. Most of the time they are funny. The rip on things such as Corvette's transverse leaf spring suspension, the donging noise when you open the door to the CTS-V, and overall styling is boring or rubbish. I watched it last night, they were driving the Aston DBS. He didnt like it...

he doesn't like anything. they are not really an educational show because all teh cars they test are very high end or absolutely ridiculous. he hates american cars because american cars are better suited to the american people (big engines and lots of cupholders) and he generally hates america. i don't take it personally and honestly i agree with 98% of his arguments.

Yeah, he tends to rip on American cars hard. He has a whole dvd series about coming to the US.
He likes the C6 and really liked the Z06. He loved the Ford GT, but that was a disaster with the control arms. I think there was several problems with them, and he got fed up with it.

Remind me again which British cars are actually made by British companies employing British people?

the thing is, he doesn't really like british cars too much either. thats why i was careful to say he hates americans and not that he is british loyal. he certainly is european loyal though. :)

he actually still owns a GT... but the, i guess you could say 'competitions', are some of the best segments on tv...and the stig rocks

I thought there was a big article in Top Gear how he got rid of it?

Clarkson does like some British cars like the new XK convertable. He likes a lot of European cars, and enjoys driving the hell out of them.
