getting out of racing so here it is. would like to sell complete package for 2000.00
1974 pontiac 455 block .060 according to my machine shop the block needs honed and can be reassembled with .060 pistons
Set of .060 pistons. Trw flat tops. On rods
Set of stock rods and std pistons.
1 nodular crank .010/.010 spun rod and main bearings
1 nodular crank standard
ATI sfi balancer re-oring a couple of years ago. Good for 8 more years before recommended rebuild.
Hi-torque Pontiac mini starter good for at least 14 to 1 compression
1 hayes sfi flexplate
1 cat sfi flexplate
1971 #66 heads untouched stock need rebuild
Cometic head gaskets .027 thick can be reused 4 more times per cometic
Harland sharp 1.65 roller rockers
Wenzler original tunnel ram. Drilled and used for mechanical injection. No carb tops. wenzler still makes the tops. there on the web.
Hooker super comp d port headers.
Gm 100 amp true one wire alternator.
Msd pro billet Pontiac distributor. New cap, rotor and moroso 40 race wires
Moon timing cover with pump cam drive plate
Adapter for cam to pump coupler. Eliminates fuel pump eccentric so you can cam drive mechanical fuel pump. Slick setup. Custom made by pontiac heaven
Misc parts such as oil pans, stock timing covers, arp head bolts, oil pan studs, aluminum water pump. New motor mounts. possible have frame mounts for 67-69 f body. Aluminum valley pan. NO VALVE COVERS
Might have some other misc engine stuff that will go with this package.
This engine (before spun bearings) went 10.60’s with a enderle bird catcher injection on alcohol. went 11.00 on a bg 850 alky carb with no tuning.
Cam was comp cams 306s with 1.65 rockers and 34 degrees total timing.
1968 firebird mostly steel and 3215 pounds.
Engine was inspected over the winter and all bearings and surfaces looked good.
Ran 7 runs for testing this year and engine developed a slight noise. Disassembled and found 2 spun rod bearings and one crank bearing. Block was not damaged in any way that I could see. Took to my machine shop and was told that the cylinders would need hone is all with new rings and bearings to assemble. Original crank has to be cut and re-balanced or use the other crank. Engine block will have to be cleaned as bearing metal went into the oil passages. Would like to sell all as a package
same ad on racingjunk.com also. asking 2000.00 well worth it if you are building a hi performance street strip engine. price out the stuff that you can actually still buy new. very expensive. other misc pontiac engine stuff will go with as i dig it up. mostly brackets, bolts and such. i will guarantee the block is good with no cracks. if you buy the lot and take it to a shop in a reasonable time we can negotiate a block buy back if it wont work for you. can ship but pickup or local delivery better. pm me or contact me at 68pont455@msn.com directly. i am in quakertown pa. will separate let me know what interests you

can this be run on gas, or what kind of work would be needed to make it run on gas? whats the compression

if you mean regular street gas i would put it together with the #66 heads with felpro gaskets. this would give an as stock configuration so pump gas would be fine. factory had flat tops . i had raced it #48 heads (65cc due to mill) and .027 cometic gaskets. that gave 12.9 to 1 compression so race gas would be necessary. i used alcohol but race gas would of been fine. the #48 heads are basically new with only 7 runs on them until bearings spun. the good nodular crank needs polishing as it has some surface rust that comes off with crc so i dont think it would need a major cut. maybe .010 /.010 but that is usually what you get with any used standard crank and even some aftermarket need cut to get the proper clearances. if you had 72cc heads you would get around 11 to 1. i dont have any 72 cc heads left. i dont know what cc the #66 heads are but are untouched and would need some minor work.
