I tried lighting up an object at night with an inexpensive million candlewatt spotlight I picked up @ Harbor Freight for $20. What I did was take some white fabric I had laying around, and created a box around the head of the flashlight and covered it in the white fabric softening the effect of the beam. I was still able to direct the beam but it didn't show off any circled rings against a wall.
Heres the result, with out any editing at all in my garage in pitch dark. Exif should still be intact.

I love how it pops out at you. I'll try and take it out another night and do something cool with it.
