View Full Version : Central Jersey activities?

I’m a pretty frequent visitor of the Central Jersey (Tinton falls & Red Bankish area) because that’s where my girlfriend lives currently. Well every time we want to do something we seem to hit a brick wall because most of Central is just empty besides 2 bars in Red Bank, and the beach. However, every time I visit it rains, so beach is no go.
What do central people do when they are bored? Do not suggest the mall; I’ve been to Monmouth mall and the Freehold one, so that’s a no go. Plus I’m not a fan of shopping. Can you give me some entertainment places to go? Classier bars (not the redneck chugging beer bar) maybe? Maybe you guys have a Circus or something? Go-kart racing? I don’t know just surprise me with something entertaining, which would preoccupy me for a day or at least several hours.

Yes, I know there is a central section, but no one goes there.

Al I know you live there, what do you do besides work and hang out with Northerners?

Thanks.

Discuss.

Well you could find Jamz28 and you guys could discuss male genitals. Or if that isn't fun, cruise around, I really don't go out much to do the stuff you wanna know. Beach gets old if you live here, and I am not 21 so bars are out of the question. I would say try and find a party. Mon U is around here, I am sure there will be parties. I am more of a party at a friends house than anything else, so I am no big help here. And whats there not to like about walking the lovely streets of Red bank?

you can go to the boardwalk? it has buildings that will keep you dry. theres bars around too, just gotta wander some. go on a party boat and fish? that would take up half the day. go to seaside for some sightseeing, that gets interesting. there is "the circus" restaurant in wall, on highway 35. they still have curbside service, no booze though.

Yea I know the beach gets old, I used to live in Daytona Beach, and its still old to me. And as far as finding a party goes, I go to Penn State during the school year, so I'm resting from the party stuff.

Thanks though, if you think of anything else post up.

Is there a Casino or something, besides AC?

We went to the horse track but the breaks between horse racing were too brutal, so we left.

if you do, fridays before 9. they are a restaurant as well. its two stories, upstairs being the crazy younger crowd, downstairs being the laid back older crowd with live music usually. both stories with shuffleboard, hard to get on the table at first but always fun. oh and they close at 11:30 so an after spot or another bar is necessary, unless you want to go chill on the beach

No casino's till you get to AC.
Lots of bars, clubs, and generally nice things to do. Red Bank has a lot of nice places.
Pt.Pleasent or Seaside would be another place to go if you are looking for boardwalk fun. Keyport also has some stuff, but not nearly as nice as Pt.Pleasent nor as big as Seaside.

Oh never again will I go to LBI. I went there with my friend, pre-girlfriend time, and everything, the whole damn town, was shut down by 11pm. All the girls were in the 12 to 15 range. We swore we would never go back.

P.S. I would love to go to AC but I think that's too much driving for one day.

seaside is just disease jumbled up. id stay away from diseaseside heights.

if your into cars atco and englishtown are open.
google raceway park englishtown nj or atco raceway atco nj
on the weekends you can partake in a little bit more of our
redneck side and head on up to new egypt (15 minutes down 537 from freehold mall). they have a dirt track and the locals run their outlaw machines down there. always lots of fun. if your up for a little bit more of a ride you can head down philly. lots of awesomeness there. great cheesesteaks...great shopping (for the gf) lots of awesome old sites and you can do what everyone else does....run your ass up the steps of the philadelphia art moozaaaam
hell the art mooozam  is an awesome place to visit too...if your into that sort of thing. lots of different things for different people in the immediate areas.

ive just been there and done that everywhere in nj that its all kinda blah to me.

Well,
You could hit Raceway Park in Englishtown (Night Of Thrills). There's Midievel Times in Lyndhurst. There's plenty of poolhalls around. One place in Redbank I like going is called "The Melting Pot" a fondue resturaunt... You could hit Movie Theatre's or even just look on this board for any meets. Hope that helps man.

hours (http://www.theparkerhousenj.com/PH/Pages/hours.htm)12 midnight curfew sucks in that town. That place gets hot & cramped. And is often filled with snotty a-holes. Which can be fun, lol.

Bars/clubs there are lots of places, though not as many as even a few years ago. Leggets (217 First Avenue 08736) in Manasquan used to be a good place to go, Jenkinsons in Point on the boardwalk is ok, kind of big though - I like Martell's down the boardwalk more. The Norwood Inn in Avon (618 2nd Ave 07717) can be fun on the right night, as can the The Sandbar in Brielle (201 Union Lane 08730). I hear the Boathouse on Main St in Belmar is pretty good. BA is on 16th in Belmar near the train tracks - another big bar. Then there is the Headliner on Rt 35 in Neptune

Some good eating:
Murphy Grill - 26 Broad Street Red Bank 07701
Barnacle Bill's - 1 1st Street Rumson 07760
Kelly's - 3 Route 35N Neptune 07753
Rod's - 507 Washington Blvd. Sea Girt 08750
Maria's - good Italian - 165 Main St Manasquan 08736
Mariner's Cove - the best omlettes ever - 712 Union Ave in Brielle, NJ 08730
Harrigan's Pub - 703 Baltimore Blvd (rt 71), Sea Girt, NJ 08750

I'll add some more as I think of them.

Thank you. Thank you very little. LOL If I still lived there I'd take you on a tour.

Here is a good night: Italian at Maria's 6-ish, do the boardwalk in Point, all the stupid crap, mini-golf, games, etc. Then drinks (many) outside at Martells. Can't go wrong on a nice night.

If you are so inclined, Allaire State Park is in Wall. You can blow a few daylight hours there if you like parks and such.

Another place is the Circus Drive-In in Wall on rt 35. Best grease in town, no doubt.

i was there last wed, great time. two awesome bands and a good crowd. just hate how it floods always on the street with the little draw bridge.

Jenkinsons in Point on the boardwalk is ok, kind of big though - I like Martell's down the boardwalk more.

jenks is awesome in the off season, though i did get two "beer shottys" there saturday. and martells is like, next door. good place too. ever been to frankies on 35 south and arnold? or warfside patio bar by the inlet?-supposedly one of the top spots to find a cougar

all the others good times too. or across the street from headliner is an ice house. buy some dry ice, chip some pieces and throw it in a two liter, add a half a solo cup of lukewarm water, screw on cap, shake and throw!!! dry ice bombs are soooo loud!

the last i checked, the bowling alley in brick was still open. down the street from me is blackbeard's cave, which has go-karts. unfortunately, the karts are slower than the course, which doesn't really make for a fun time. for me, knowing that i have more power under me than the upcoming curve can handle makes karting fun. there's that formula 4 race car place in cherry hill or marlton (i do not know if it's still there) but last time i was there it was prohibitively expensive. like $120 for a few hours. other than that, i don't do anything outside of the boardwalk in sleazeside or punt pleasant. there's always six fags gay adventure, but i understand that is getting really expensive too, and i don;t like the kind of people it attracts. there used to be an amusement park in clementon, but now you're really talking south jersey. it had one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the US. there is a dave&busters in philly, i've been there and it's a lot of fun if you like arcades.

things i used to do when i was younger included skiing, roller skating and outdoor sports i know i haven't been much help.

About the only thing I can offer,,,

Listed as "South Jersey", but about 15-20 miles from AC to a historic town "Smithsville" has some small shops (odd kinda stuff?), Smithsville Inn is a nice place to eat, a bit on the exspensive side. But still a nice place to walk around for an hour or two if you're down that way. They have events there as well such as Friday night cruz nights, but I have never been to one so no idea what kind of cars they attrached?

Sorry, that about all I know of in the area.

space station- i used to "hang out" with a broad from holmdel. what we would do is go to red bank and walk around and such. it sounds gay but your really going for the company. think about it. theres cafes, restaurants, shops for her to shop at and you to see her try stuff on (which is as boring as it sounds), there is a dock area with a few benches and such, etc... so yeah we would do that every so often. give it a whirl, but be cautious cause that area is pricey.

Ocean County Fair (http://www.oceancountyfair.com/) is going on right now through the weekend.

Monmouth County Fair (http://www.monmouthcountyparks.com/page.asp?agency=131&ID=2492) is coming up at the end of the month.

Hot Air Balloon Festival (http://www.balloonfestival.com/) in Readington in 2 weeks.

Skydiving (http://www.skydivejerseyshore.com/) at the airport in Wall.

There's quite a few trails for biking or walking at many of the parks around. Holmdel Park and Allaire State Park are really nice. Manasquan Reservoir (actually in Howell) has a great trail that goes all the way around.

I heard Pt Pleasant has a free movie on the beach every Sunday night on the north side of Jenks.
