To be able to race? Can I just show up, or with me being 17 do I need to get permission papers signed? With work I haven't been able to call Atco during the day and tried emailing them with no response. Anyone know what I need to do?

Your parent or legal guardian has to sign a parental consent form.

I thought so. I guess I have to take a trip to atco to get the form, or do you think they can fax it to me?

They need it notorized... Or, they will let it slide if the parent is there.

they should be able to send it to you. I don't remember if they ahve the same insurance company as Island, otherwise I'd send you the form and it'd still be good there.

Ok, I'll give them a call tomorrow and see how I get the form. Thanks. I want to see what my car will run because I'm not stupid enough to street race.

Its good to see someone smart enough to know to keep it at the track.

In all honesty, they most likely aren't going to question your age unless maybe you look very young... No where on the paper you fill out does it ask you your age either. You fill out the paperwork, and the guy glances at it, they write a number on your window and send you on your way.

I know the proper way of doing it is the way mentioned above, but I'm just sayin'

Well I do look kinda young, and I'm only about 5'5-5'6 so that's not helping either, but who knows...I left a message at atco this morning and I'll see what kinda pain in the ass this form is. I've emailed them several times and they never got back to me, so if they don't return my phone call I will just show up one day and see if they question my age.

They look at your license and check age at Island. Never been to Atco though.

Good to know. If they don't call me tomorrow, I'll probably just show up on tuesday night and see if they let me race.

Well I joined one of Atco's Message boards(goneracing.com) and talked to Dave Godfrey and he said that I don't need any kind of parental permission form. All I need to do is when I go through tech I need to fill out a a release form which I assume everyone has to do? So I will be heading out to atco tomorrow as long as the weather is nice and get my first 1/4 passes under my belt.

AFAIK it's not Atco's decision as to whether or not you need the parental consent form, it's the state's. If Atco chooses not to enforce it, that's on them.

Exactly. Since you are 17 years old, any waiver that you fill out is not valid because you are not an adult. The insurance company is what mandates the release form. When you go there, pretend like you got hurt on the property while racing and see what happens. I'm curious.

that'll work for all of 2 seconds, until you drive the car to the lanes and they check your armband.

I wouldn't be surprised, with turnouts getting lighter and lighter, if they started armbanding people so that they couldn't just throw someone else in the car, you would have to buy another card.

I know they used to do it on certain nights. I was there on Tuesdays when they'd run the gamblers race along side t&t so I guess it was so that the t&t guys didnt try and sneak into the gamblers race without paying the higher entry fee. I havent been there in a while so I'm not sure if they still do that.

Well I finally went. Ran a 13.481@ 107.6 with a 2.23 60 foot on my first run. Only got 3 runs in because I didn't get there until 7. My best was my first run all the others had 60 foots of 2.3 because I tried launching at 1900rpm and 1500rpm and both spun. My best Mph of the night was 108.35. My slowest run was like a 13.61 so without the driver mod the car is a mid 13 second car with 176K miles on, not bad i guess.
