Well, i decided to take the SS out for a ride today since its been sitting for the past 2 weeks. I went cruising for a good hour and a half which is a treat for me since i dont drive it much due to being outta work and gas being rediculous lol. Aaaaaanyway before i went home i stopped off at BP for gas. I told the dude to fill it and i went inside to pick up some smokes. when i walked out, i noticed a black civic hatch parked at the stall next to me and it had a hood with an SS hood scoop on it. I kinda smirked and kept walking up to my car. the owner of the civic came up to me, pointed at my car and said, wow man, u have my hood. I just stared at him for a good 30-35 seconds and then blurted out.. no no my man, u have MY hood. Got in the car and left. I did smile the whole way home though

Another ricer P0WNED. But I'm sure that by now that ricer has logged on to his "fast and furious ":gay:website and told the story of how he smoked some guy who was "frontin" at the local BP and then went home and "got some" because his Nissan rolls hard:rofl:

That's pretty funny.
only thing you both had in common was that both of your hoods are non-functional.

Aye, but the Honda would need something under the hood to be functional, as supposed to the Camaro.

What do you mean by non-functional? The SS hood directs outside air directly into the airbox just like the ram-air hood. It's fully functional.

The airbox is no different. The pic Alex posted shows the air passages on the underside of the hood (the half circles on either side with no frost).
Air comes in the scoop, wraps around to the front, and then gets directed right into the airbox.

GTFO lol. I never knew it had those passages. I only remember the LT1 SS hood actually having that strange intake from the hood scoop. I'm going to have to check this out.

Right, but he ripped it off of your car, which in turn took it from 2nd Gen Z28s.

Actually, that picture isn't the same as my SLP SS hood. The openings are slightly different but it's the same functionality.

Z28 > SS
Not really true. The old SS396/375 hp cars would walk all over a Z28. But a Z28 would make fun of an SS350 car. So it's not even a valid discussion since the Z28 only had a single engine available where the SS had multiple combinations.

-....as long as there was no corner involved....
SS = appearance package. One didn't need 'SS' to get L78. :-P:-P:-P

On the Camaro RPO Z27 (SS) was required to get any of the 396 engines. The COPO cars did not require the SS option but that was the L72 427/425 hp motor. The 'SS' moniker was not always a performance combination as noted by the old 6 cyl SS cars from the early 60's.

Do you know the difference between an LT-1 and an LT1, and an LS-1 and an LS1 besides the hyphens?

LT-1 is a gen 1 small block, 350 CI, beginning production in 1970 and ending in 1972 i believe. 11:1 compression, solid lifters. A monster of an engine. (Only reason I know all that is because my dad used to have one in his Malibu SS, and then swapped it over to a Vega.)
LT1 is a Gen II small block. Starting in 1992 in 'vettes and '93 in f-bodies.
I would like to know what an LS-1 is.

LS-1 was a 10.25:1 CR 427 2 bolt main with a 4bbl carb and small port heads
LS-4, 5, 6 and 7 were variations of the 454...the LS-7 was a 465 hp 12:1 CR motor that was never released
LS-3 was a 402 with two different variations.

Yep. Original LS-1 was a 427 that was ~335 hp and a Q-Jet. Only in big cars like Impalas. 1969 only.

Game over, checkmate Z28.
I kinda wish that the new Z28 will not be supercharged, rather be direct injected making 500hp.
