Hey guys, was wondering if there was anyone in my area that could try out my MAF on their car. I think mine is dead, but I want to be sure that this is the problem. Can anyone help out?

OK, when its plugged in, the only way the car will start is with my right foot to the floor. Once it starts, it will barely rev to 1500 RPM and stinks of gas everywhere. With the MAF unplugged, it will fire up and run. If I plug in the MAF while its running, the scanner shows 486 GPS and the car instantly dies. Im going to check the wiring to the MAF, but I think it might be toast. I would love to have someone try it out so I know for sure its toast.

Looks like Im ordering a new MAF tomorrow. I just took it off the car, one of the resistors is ripped off between the two poles. Oh well, at least I know its that for sure.

I was just gonna say where you at? I would help you out if you were close, but I guess problem has been solved. If my memory serves me correctly my car was throwing P0100 code - my MAF ended up being bad, it was only 130ish bucks at advance auto parts.

Buy new direct from GM! Don't get any other kind if you cant find a used stocker. If my car was road legal I'd swing on by but I'd can't risk driving lately.

I have a brand new GM MAF coming from Full Throttle Speed on Wednesday. They had the best price at $109 plus shipping. My local dealer wanted $205 for a new one. The GM part #25179711 is for the MAF.

Thats not a bad deal at all for a new MAF. Congrats I'm sure it'll fix your issues. I'm already on my 3rd MAF. One was my own fault, the second was a freak accident, but I'm pretty familiar with this issue now.

Yeah, this should fix the issue for sure. The MAF that went was the original one with 48K on it. Who knows what happened over the winter when it was sitting around. Maybe it got knocked around or dropped. No matter, new one is on the way. Thanks everyone for your help. arOck, thanks for offering to stop by!

Well, the new MAF fixed part of the problem. If you need a new one, I ordered mine from Full Throttle Speed. They have them for $109. After I installed mine, the car was running fine. Then I noticed every time I hit a bump the car would lose power. I pulled into my driveway, popped the hood with the car idling. When I went to go put my hand on the MAF pigtail to make sure it was seated all the way, the car stalled. I also had to buy a new MAF pigtail from EFI Connection. Once I go that, I had to cut the pigtail off my car and about 4 inches of wire (the one from EFI has about 12), solder in and heat shrink the new harness and connector. Now all is well. From what I hear, the MAF pigtail goes bad on these cars, its not uncommon. Check that first, the pigtail is only 11 bucks.
