Shows the new Caddy SRX, Chevy Equinox, Chevy Cruze, Saab 9-4x, and new Buick LaX (could get a different name when coming to production)
All cars will be in production within the year except for the Cruze. The Cruze is a world wide car, and the world gets it before we do.

They need to bring the Cruze 1st! It's leaps and bounds over the Cobalt in the looks dept. We would buy one tonight if they were here now.
All of those are pretty ugly besides the SRX, I guess I will not be a GM customer in the near future.

Unless they start turning some good profit, I really don't care. More of the same with different names.

I think I'm with you.
Between the Cobolt and the Malibu, why do they need the Cruze? GM really needs to rethink the models they want to bring out. I know some of these things were in the works for years, however GM really needs to be a little more fleet of foot when it comes to meeting demand. Right now, larger cars, SUVs and trucks just aren't it, and with no end of higher gasoline prices in sight, why continue to push what no one will buy?

Cruze is the next-gen Cobalt (I'm hoping they keep the Cobalt name here in the US), so they won't have both.

cruze + 40mpg 1.4L Turbo = win. the car may not be the most stylish thing on the road but the interior is top notch and the drivetrain should be a winner

From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab : General Motors bought 51 percent of the automobile division Saab Automobile in 1990, and acquired the rest a decade later.
From google searching: in 99 GM bought a 20% stake in Subaru's parent company; in 2005 they sold what they had left to Toyota

20% cut in White collar work force

Sale of Hummer
Little info ont he cars.
Like jake said, the Cruze will be Chevy's world car, and will have a 1.4turbo engine getting 40-45mpg highway, without the use of hybrid technology. Thats Prius gas milage for thousands less. It will replace the Cobalt, not join it. Cobalt name will disappear.
There will be a new Aveo replacement coming that will also be use this 1.4 engine getting more then 45+mpg. That will be the Fit/Yaris fighter.
The Buick sedan will replace the current LaCrosse, and will also be a world car. This car was designed by GM's Chinese Buick Division. It will bring Enclave's style and luxury into Buick's first not-made-for-old-peopole sedan. No more 3800's, no more 4spd autos, no more vinyl bench seats...
The new Equinox will have GM's new 2.3 liter 4cyl using direct injecton getting 30mpg or more with a GM (no more Toyota) 6 speed automatic transmission out of a car about as big as the new Ford Edge.
The Caddy SRX and Saab 9-4x will use a premium version of the theta platform, and also incorperate modern technology, with Saab possibly bringing in its BioPower turbo engines where they have made 400hp on turbocharged V6's using Ethanol fuel.
And just in case people still think GM doesnt have the cars with the best fuel economy, the 2009 EPA ratings are out
Cobalt XFE will be bumped to 37mpg (class leading)
Malubu and Aura with 2.4/6spd combo will get 33mpg (class leading)
GM trucks get the 6spd autos this year as well, bumping up thier already class leading fuel economy.
Oh...yeah and I forgot about this..
To the Many Friends of Camaro:
We know it seems to many of you this day would never arrive, but on Monday, July 21, 2008, at 4:00 PM, EDT, Ed Peper, Chevrolet’s General Manager, and Ed Welburn, GM’s Director of Design, will unveil the details of the 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. This unveil will be the first step in answering the many questions (or should we say confirming the many rumors) surrounding the new Camaro.
Due to many factors, we are not able to extend an invitation to the entire Camaro community to join us in person for the dual, simultaneous unveilings that will take place in Warren, MI, and Los Angeles, CA.
We understand many of you may be disappointed not being able to see the car “in the flesh” that day (and therefore give you a reason to meet us at Indy in September); therefore, we are arranging a live webcast of the Warren unveiling on the GM Next website.
On Monday, July 21, just before 4:00 PM, EDT, go to http://camaro.gmnext.com (http://camaro.gmnext.com/) and click on the "Camaro webcast" link at the top of the page (the Camaro link goes live July 17) to tune in the unveiling. If you cannot watch the webcast live, no worries, an archive of the broadcast will be available on GMNext.com and Chevy.com/Camaro (http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro/).
Speaking of Chevy.com/Camaro (http://www.chevrolet.com/camaro/), the next evolution of the site will also debut late Monday afternoon. The next evolution will include images of the production model, exclusive production animation, and a downloadable PDF file containing specifications on the 2010 Camaro. After the webcast, come on over and see the changes for yourself.
If all your questions are not answered during the reveal, a web-chat on the 2010 Camaro will take place the next day (Tuesday, July 22) at GMNext.com. The chat will start at 9:30 AM, EDT, and will feature experts from Chevrolet Marketing, Design and Engineering.
Since Camaro’s production announcement in August 2006, many people throughout GM have been passionately developing a car worthy of its heritage that features beautiful styling, segment-leading performance, excellent fuel economy and advanced technology. Quite honestly, we can't wait to show you all the work on Monday.
Sincerely,
Team Camaro

Al,
Good info, thanks for sharing. That certainly makes things seem less grim... but I'm still skeptical about the execution of all of these projects. I would love to see GM come out with more cars that pull people away from the idea that foriegn cars are more reliable or more economical but past history seems to show that they just can't seem to get things done.

Well, they sure are having a tough time convincing people. I did post a big editorial on GMI about how the press portrays GM. When they released June's sales numbers, they were talking about how GM was gunna be overtaken by Toyota because GM = trucks and suv's, while Toyota= cars that run on love and **** out fuzzy rabbits. Preditions of GM's drop were from 24-35% down year over year, with Toyota UP a few percent.
Numbers came out, GM was down 18%...but Toyota? And I quote 'Toyota, makers of the fuel friendly Yaris and Prius, had a 24% decline in sales...thats surprising considering that GM, who makes trucks and suv's, had a much smaller decline."
Perception is a bitch. Problem is, GM cannot advertise to save thier life. And anyone that preaches the quality of GM is called a GM fan boy or any other selective words.
GM has been pulling in awards left and right for thier new cars. Malibu just was ranked #1 in initial quality by JD Power, over the new Accord.
GM has the best cars on the market, they just dont know how to advertise.

The advertising thing is something that I've been bitching about for a while. The fbody advertising during the last few years of their production was downright pitiful. And whenever GM has a cool, entertaining new ad somebody gets a bug up their ass and GM bows down and pulls it (like either of the C6 vette ads and the robot suicide ad). We get stuck with ****** "American Revolution" ads that do jack squat to get the blood pumping.
I work for a market research company. We test public perceptions of ads and concepts every day. We have a pretty good idea of how to gauge what works and what doesn't, and a lot of GM's stuff is crap. I've been pushing to do a perception test of the Rolling Stones/Guy Richie ad vs. one of the "American Revolution" ads just for fun, to see how people view the two of them. If it ever happens I'll post results.

Good point. I will admit that Chevy pulled out thier gas friendly commercials again, with the sneeky gas pump. That was funny and I could remember that. I also liked the ones where that black guy walked around cars with the kids and showed them Chevy's gas friendly vehicles like the Volt, Tahoe Hybrid, and other E85 cars they had. Kids are cute.
Caddy has decent commercials, as does Saturn.
Too bad for PBG as well as Saab.
By far, best commercials GM has or had, are Hummer commercials.

They had C6 commercials? I never saw one. The worst part about GM aside from the UAW is their advertising.

All 2009 GM cars get Bluetooth ability tied in with OnStar. So no more needing of a 2nd Verizon line for OnStar telematics.
Combine Bluetooth with Onstar and CTS's 40 gig hard drive that can download songs from your MP3/Ipod, and upload them to the hard drive, along with navigation and XM NavTraffic reports...all it needs is a toilet, and a wifi connection and I would never need a house!!
